Hi Folks,

In my escalation league I've been unsuccessfully playing Necrons - right up until we hit 1000 points and I found a combo that seems to work fairly well. My 1000 point list consisted of a smaller version of my 1500 list below. Just no spiders, fewer warriors per unit and only three bases per scarab unit. Up until then I lost all of my games (one draw). Once I put this list together at 1000 and worked out the mechanics of how to use it best I won one game (tabled my opponent in four turns - the fourth turn we played for fun since he only had one model left on the board) and in another game I only gave up 120 points worth of my army (all of my scarabs) versus his 570 I took from him. I blew it on getting to an objective but I was happy with the performance of the list just not my ability to play the end game.

So anyway, the basic gist of this list is the overlord hangs with the warriors with his orb keeping the warriors up and shooting. He's also a Phaeron so the they can move and shoot. A cryptek from each of the rc's join each of the two warrior units. One is veiltek and the other is a pulsetek. So for the first two turns it's night fighting for my opponent courtesy of the pulsetek's. Both warrior units look for a vulnerable unit - like kroot, standard meqs, etc and deep strike as close as I can and unload into them. So far I haven't deep struck within 12" of my opponent but I am was always an easy walk into the 12" range. The first time I tried this was against DE and literally jumped right into his kill box with both warrior units followed very closely by the scarab units. Shockingly the warriors proved very resilient. I wiped out a unit of his from fire alone then it was his turn. Almost all of the warriors got back up after the DE was done shooting. I was shocked. So long story short - warrior bricks are the bomb from what I can see. And if you make sure to assault with your overlord those mind scarabs will mess up your opponent. In a game yesterday I mind shackled a carnifex and it beat itself to death (had two wounds left). Pretty funny.

Now with my 1500 list I have a mini-scarab farm happening with the addition of the spiders who will poop up to 6 bases a turn. 18 on the turn my opponent can actually see them but by then it's too late

I think your list isn't flawed, i like the idea behind it, but you are placing 360 points into those two overlords, 1/5 of your army into two models.
I'd consider finding a way to use a single royal court, and use the points from the second OL to beef up squads, or heck, get a whole new squad of your choice.
Just my thoughts on that

Yeah, I hear ya. It does seem like a lot for two HQs. I could probably drop the weave. The problem with the royal court is that's where I'm getting my solar pulses from. I started with only one pulse but it wasn't enough. I also had my overlords stripped down to just the orb and phaeron but saw a need for MS and the weave. It does seem crazy to have only two units by turn three (by then the scarabs are usually toast). I'll have more data in the next week when I play my 1000 point list some more. We don't go to 1500 until the end of the month.

This list does not work together very well and is missing critical components.

Phaeron plus warriors and scarabs plus spyder are the only synergies here.

You do not have much shooting at all to back up the scarabs' advance. Left to themselves, they will lose the spyders behind. The spyders are too slow to support without pulseteks or Imotekh.

The lords are over-tricked-out and will not pay for their points.

Shooty armies will kill the scarabs first, then the spyders, and eventually the warriors. You lack the speed necessary to present multiple targets to the opponent. CC armies will use high strength units to insta-kill the scarabs and/or will deep-strike behind the warriors after you lose cohesion.

This is a very poor list competitively speaking.

I am convinced scarabs must be taken in large squads and supported by spyders, or not at all.

I also think getting Overlords for phaeron on warriors is too expensive unless you take very large units, but then you run the risk of having large portions of your army swept to death without RP.

Honestly, I think i'd drop both overlords, take immotehk, a chronotek, a orb lord w/ scythe and mss to go with the other warrior squad, and then grab some more goodies with the saved points.
That guarantees you a few rounds of night fighting, and the added lightning bonus, keeping your scarabs more safe.
Just as a basis for modifying your list, the scarab farm is a good one, but synergizes best with immotehk
