Subject: Maximum size of Seer Council?

I saw notes that some people were now fielding enormous Seer Councils, 60-80 models or so. Regardless of anyone's opinion of whether or not this is a good idea, I'm not sure it's legal. The Seer Council entry does say, 'Any number of additional Warlocks may be added to the unit...'. However, Codex Eldar itself also says, 'Each Farseer allows you to field up to 5 Warlocks.' The Ulthwe entry doesn't say that it specifically overrides this limit, and there is a limit on the number of Farseers in the Council - up to 5. Surely that would mean that there was also an upper limit on the number of Warlocks?

The Seer Council entry states it replaces the Farseer entry in Codex: Eldar. Therefore, there is no limit to how many Warlocks one can take using an Ulthwe army list Seer Council as it does not have the same restriction.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

But that restriction isn't in the Farseer entry in the Eldar Codex.

The Ulthwe list specifically says it can have an unlimited number of warlocks. I don't see how it needs to be examined any further.

So saying that you can add any number of warlocks to the Seer Council specifically overrides a stated limit on the number of warlocks in an army?
I guess that's one way of reading it. But isn't this similar to the recent discussion about Word Bearers and Nurglings? As in, the Word Bearers rule specifically allows them to field Nurglings, but they can't because they still have to abide by the Nurglings rule that limits them to one pack per Mark of Nurgle.

More power to the general who wants a unit size of 60 on their seer council, nothing stopping them, not even common sense is stopping them.

Can you D.I.G. it? |

Relic, the Ulthwe rules have a specific rule that says you may have an unlimited number of warlocks. This specific rule over-rides the general rule for eldar you've cited.

Good enough for me. After some thought, I see that it is not similar to the Word Bearers/Nurglings discussion.
