Warband 1: Dalamyr 12 Corsairs of Umbar w/ 6 shields and 6 boarding pikes Warband 2: Corsair Bo'sun w/ Two-handed weapon 12 Corsairs of Umbar w/ 6 shields and 6 boarding pikes Warband 3: Corsair Captain w/ Crossbow 12 Corsairs of Umbar w/ Bows Warband 4: Corsair Captain w/ Shield 6 Corsairs of Umbar w/ 2 shields, 2 boarding pikes and 2 bows 599 Thoughts? My main concern is that since Dalaymr is the only source of will draining, he will need to hit twice with his smoke bombs to ensure a transfix, but otherwise, I think the threat of being transfixed will hopefully allow me to trick my opponent into rushing towards me and by extension, into combats he doesn't want to fight, the only other problem is the army only has 5 might, which may give me trouble against Strider/Elessar and Boromir. I have already beaten a foot based Rohirrim army with this list so I am quite confident at the moment, but will be getting a game or two in tomorrow, allowing me to evaluate its effectiveness just a little more.

Nope, no arbalesters, not a fan of them personally.

That's different :p Not saying it;s a bad thing tis just not often you see pure corsair forces without them XD
I'm not really a fan of crossbows either but i do love the models.
Have you thought about using 2 Bo'sun? I feel it;s always a bonus to have the extra banner around? seeing as it is one of the corsairs advantages having cheapish heroes that can also count as banners.
Just trying to offer those little siggestions. I cannot say i'm an expert on corsairs though, i play pure harad. Automatically Appended Next Post: That's different :p Not saying it;s a bad thing tis just not often you see pure corsair forces without them XD

I originally had two Bo'Suns in the list, but that left the army with only 3 points of might, which at 600 points, is not what I wanna do, not even for an extra banner. (Bo'Suns are 0/0/1 fyi)
I find the best way to go with Corsairs is to keep moving, make it so they don't have time to get a lot of hits, making my low defense a non-issue.

wow i didn't realise bo'suns were 0/0/0 i thought they might be 1/0/1 XD Nevermind what i said about that then lol.
Sounds like a viable stratagy. Also goes somewhat to explain the bows over crossbows. As allows you to keep more mobile.
I'd love to play against a corsairs list. Never seen a pure one played before. Would be cool to see how my harad stood up to them. Think i might have the advantage in mobility and firepower but who knows.

It looks a solid list. You did right not to include a second banner at this size, the reward is not worth the cost and also crossbows are expensive and not mobile enough (well not for me ) Not really sure how you can improve this as I don't know corsairs at all but what about the fellas with the higher fight??

I like your list, bu having beaten a foot based Rohan army, may have given you a bit of hubris. Beware of armies with high toughness, and further more more armour than you.

I would at the very least invest in some ranged. As a Harad player, I'm deeply fond of archers.

Yeah he's just not running any Arbalesters XD Maybe that is what you were expecting to see, so you were not looking for bow armed guys.

Yeah I noted that in my OP, speaking of high defense, I got a game against a dwarf player that has like 6 vault warden teams in his army, its gonna be a toughie for sure.

Well, the game didn't go so well, basically with the way deployment and terrain was, my army was fractured into its 4 warbands while he managed to have all three of his deploy together and he was able to just pick me apart one warband at a time, and without the ability to auto-win fights like I could against rohan, my low defense was quite the issue, but you gotta lose to learn and I must say, defense 8 dwarf captains have nothing on Dalamyr and Bane of Kings.

Sorry to hear you lose but deployment had you for a loss from the get-go so I wouldn't worry about it at all (dwarves in a clump = sad face). If it had been the other way around victory would have been no doubt yours. Just out of interest what scenario did you play and what was your strategy?

We played the king of the hill scenario (whatever its called) using a set of osgilliath ruins as the hill. My plan was to try and bait stuff away from his main block using hit and run tactics, but one heroic move can lead to you being bogged down in combat unfortunately.

I agree with the way you played it totally, they need to isolated and tackled separately.
Your not wrong, once your caught it's hard to combat a swarm of the smaller folk.... I know oh so well.........

I've just had a thought. What are your opinion on Corsair Reavers? Should think a couple in each warband would be quite useful. Or am i wrong? Ft5 guys with 2 attacks seems pretty darn good to me.
