Hi guys, I'm thinking of converting a wave serpent by removing the roof which is over the transport compartment, putting the turrent-mounted weapons where the catapults normally are and mouthing the catapults above the pilot. Does anybody have any thoughts about if this is a good idea and anything I should keep an eye out for. I am wanting to do this for my Farseer to ride around in.

Fire arcs.
The front guns are often limited to 180 degrees, and the top turret 360'. If you swap, you're cutting off a lot of targets for the big guns.
Also, the Wave serpent has no fire points, so should stay enclosed.

Just rules-wise.

You'll have a fair bit of interior work to do, if you want to make it more like the Rhino.

But, there's nothing to say the lines in the WS hull aren't hinged.
For fast embarkation, the top of the compartment opens, and the troops just jump in.

Go for it, but watch out for rules restrictions.
If you lose capability, you're more likely to get allowed to use it in games. If you intend to, of course.

Hi Skinnereal

That's a good point, hadn't considered the fire arcs. Will definately think about your suggestions, would be nice for my Farseer to have something slightly different from the rest of the wave serpents.

This sounds like a good idea and abit of fun to make.

I would advise using some sort of smaller turret system that moves 360*
and either put it near the pilot or in the open top section that you are planning to have
tied looking about for some on gw and forgeworld website cant anything fantastic
but you could put use the weapon turret that i have linked below and put it in the
open top section and add the twin-link weapon to it, it would look alright.

what would probably work better is if you just got twin link weapons attached them
together and then attach it to the tank in a way that allows it to swivel it 360 (or magnetise it to the tank)
maybe make look a bit nice and have an eldar model below it touching buttons on a screen to control the turret.
