My FLGS just sent out an email stating they can special order Peter Pig.
Given PPig has Cossaks and I've been dying to do a crazy horse mounted cav force for forever but have been completely put off by the BF prices on horses and machine gun wagons, this seems like a great opportunity to give the FLGS piles of my money.
Has anyone ever picked up Peter Pig Cossaks? I can't find how many models per package I should expect.

Never bought them myself, but I'm looking into them as well.
I've only ever heard good things about Peter Pig minis, though.

Here is a review I did on some Peter Pig stuff: Peter Pig PAK 40s & Crew
I find their infantry faces to be pretty bad, but not super bad. I like how the PAK 40s and crew turned out.

Good to know.
Of course with my painting abilities, starting with a good face isn't that large of a concern. It all looks like hell in the end!
I should really just switch to British and then attack at night so no one can see me!

I quite like the PP faces actually, I certainly prefer their screams to the BF huge noses

I've had some Peter Pig German infantry before, in a bunch of different poses, including some of the gun crews shown below. Good quality sculpts. I actually prefer them to Battle Front's in most cases, some more interesting options. Not all BFs casts were very good in the boxes I've had, whilst PP's are a consistent quality. I'll probably stick with BF for vehicles etc. but I think most of my infantry will be PP.
The screaming faces both annoy me and amuse me in equal measure
The infantry at least usually come in packs of 8. 4 unique sculpts, with 2 copies of each. And I think it's £2.50 a pack. Which isn't bad at all. I can't speak for the cavalry however, but I don't think the format will change much.

Got to agree with Jon on this, all his models look like miniature pilsbury dough boys that have been punched in the mouth by Mike Tyson. Their bodies are usually brilliant (friggin bizarre he should get a Pro sculptor just to do the faces ). There are alot more examples of poor faced miniatures, however he has an enormous range of miniatures and you can always fill in the worst mouths. If he could get the faces sorted, they would be awesome, from his own website his counter points due to the level of criticism. ( IMHO his excuses are utter horse crap, as scrabbling for excuses using real world analogies and tactics, these are miniatures and it's not the real world plus other miniature producers don't have this problem nor this spurious excuse .) Gamers often ask why Peter pig figures have open mouths. In fact, some not very bright individuals, have even questioned whether men would have open mouths whilst in combat! Well, here are some reasons you might consider or even disagree with when under exertion soldiers open their mouths to draw in extra breath (try running a mile carrying a LOT of kit whilst keeping your mouth closed) or watch olympic runners in the last lap. when loud pressure waves are put upon the ear due to bangs and explosions an open mouth helps reduce ear pressure (sweets are often sucked when the plane comes in to land to help alleviate the effect of pressure change in the cabin. when in combat, men will often shout to communicate, bolster their own courage or intimidate the enemy (consider the rebel yell and Zulu war cries). NCOs will often spend a lot of time communicating via shouting. Consider accounts of WW2 NCOs getting their men moving whilst in combat. As an aside one could look at the paintings of Don Troiani featuring soldiers in combat , whom seems much better informed than the pompous "soldiers fight with closed mouths" types.

I own quite a lot of Peter Pig infantry minis, his Pak 40s and some other odds and ends. Pig does some great miniatures with lots of character. His faces are quite poor but 15mm is quite forgiving I find. Nobody else does anything like the following AFAIK
If only he'd do packs of spotters and or Nebelwerfer crew.
It also helps that my local FLGS stocks Peter Pig so those £2 bags of eight miniatures make nice 'pocket money' purchases that I can fettle in the pub afterwards.

Peter Pig minis are decent enough and good for filling in little gaps in your force. Aside from the face issues that some other people have brought up my only issue with PP is that some of their older minis are ‘true scale’ 15mm so are noticeably shorter than some of the more recent 15mm models.
I’ve got an example at home, I’ll try to take a photo later and upload it.
*EDIT*
Also their weapons are a truer scale as well, a peter pig Bazooka looks tiny when compared to a Battlefront Bazooka. Even though the PP is technically the more accurate, if you’re more used to Battlefronts ‘heroic’ scales then it can be a shock.

Despite what I said above, I actually think the detailing on the models is great and scaling is better, but it's solely the heads.
I bought some of his AK-47 range, for making a Rhodesian Bush War force with some 1/100 Alouettes etc.

Ok, firstly here is a picture of a Peter Pig US infantryman (right) next to a Forged in Battle US infantryman (left). As you can see the Peter Pig infantryman is noticeably smaller than the Forged in Battle one. The Forged in Battle infantryman is about the same size as Battlefront miniatures.
Secondly here is a Battlefront Bazooka holder next to Peter Pig Bazooka holder. You can see that the Peter Pig Bazooka looks rather spindly in comparison!

For the record, the ale undercoat/close-up pictures do PP figures no favours. They are far better than the pics would have you believe.

And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio |

I have to say the Peter Pig is better, A Bazooka is not huge.

I was repainting some of my old PP British infantry to use alongside my newly bought Battlefront infantry and they are much more detailed and more enjoyable to paint, even their faces weren't that bad.
