If a c'tan assaults into terrain, does he go to I1 or is he not effected

Rule says c'tan ignore effects of difficult and dangerous while moving.

ctans ignore the effects of difficult and dangerous terrain while moving. is the citation from the dex.

Question: Did the Ctan move, to assault?
If the answer is yes, then, No, Ctan goes at regular Init.

He doesn't roll for difficult terrain. Since that's what triggers the initiative penalty, he doesn't suffer it.

Just to be a bit more clear in case you need it:

From Necron FAQ:

Q: Does a C’tan Shard assaulting through terrain need
to take a Difficult Terrain test? (p40)

A: No.

Then read the second sentence of the second paragraph under "Assaulting through Cover" p36 of the BRB

It does make the assault grenades part of Swarm of Spirit dust kinda pointless.

Unless they change the rules for assaults in 6th edition (like 4th where being in cover made you I 10)

Want to stay locked in with an enemy dread so you can kill it in his phase? Assault grenades.

What do assault grenades have to do with staying locked...... oh. I get it now. Clever!

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Assault grenades negate the extra attacks that a unit gets from assaulting, less attack= greater chance of living. Living longer = staying locked in = more chances to kill(and if you have gaze of death, more chances to heal)

No, what he meant is that unit with assault grenades can try to use those in CC against Walker, which cannot hurt it.

Single attack that hits at 6, with armor penetration 4+D6 cannot hurt AV 12.

You're thinking of defensive grenades. Assault grenades prevent your I from dropping from asaulting into cover and taking a Diff or Dang terrain test, and also can be used against armour values.

You can actually use all grenades against walkers, assault are str4, krak str 6 and defensive str 3 I believe

Your pretty C'Tan is hiding behind a Monolith. Suddenly the monolith explodes! The only way to avoid getting shot the next time his weapons come up is to be in CC - but that walker over there is sure to die if you charge it due to a bunch of attacks at 2d6 armor pen.

Enter the humble assault grenade. You trade all your normal attacks for one attacks at d6+6.
Then on his turn, after shooting, you do a CC phase where you rip his dread apart.

Same theory as using the reroll saves on Crowe during your assault phase then pwning during his.
It's not *that* useful, but the utility is there.

A str 6 dread will not bend a Ctan over a rock...

Whats really nasty to do is run some warriors or flayed ones with (Not in the same squad obviously) a gaze of death ctan, and get that ctan in CC. Wounds? Mmmm i eat my ramen noodle flayed ones and feel fine.
True, if you shoot it to death it explodes.
But,
If you shoot it to death, IT EXPLODES! lol
