Who would win, i like both these armies. Working on orks. Just want to hear your thoughts on imperial guard vs. Orks, your experience etc. Keep the fluff to a minimum.

Not going to lie, Orks can have a rough time against guard, but that's mainly due to orks having a less impressive form of anti tank than other armies. For example, an IG player has so many different options to kill armor it isn't even funny. We get lascannons (HWS, HWT's on almost every infantry unit we have, any russ variant, vendettas, etc), melta guns (Deepstriking stomries, chimera/meltavets, vendettas dropping vets in) not to mention things like manticores, vanquishers, hydras, etc.

Orks have basically a few different ways to use rokkits (mobs, buggies, deffkoptas, etc),lootas, big gunz, Shokk attack guns, and powerklaws. There are others, but you can see already that this can seem a little tough for the ork guy. There are guys here who know orks like the back of their hand (I've just started orks, but I've been playing IG for a while) and they have tons of techniques for beating IG, so I'll let them go into the details. The way I understand it though, the key is making the IG player play your game, and not the other way around.

Like... all of them? All the Orks and all the Guard? A 2000 point army of each? A waaagh vs. a regiment? Very vague here. You said no fluff so I'm assuming you mean in-game? That varies completely on the lists being brought, the person playing them, the luck of the dice, table deployment, and a million other factors that can't be objectively predicted.

I mean no fluff as far as orks multiplying quickly etc. Maybe enough fluff to make a story lol orks have to PK the heck out of IG ... as far as I know. Just asking for fun

Well it's not exactly a fair fight.

While the Orks have a pretty solid Codex despite it being rather old, the Imperial Guard Codex is rather inbalanced at the moment due to Mr. Cruddace's desire to be a 'fething tread-head'. But it really boils down to the Generalship, I.E. the players behind the units. The Guard player might have a slighter advantage due to his units are more 'forgiving' when he makes a mistake, unlike the Ork player who can't really afford to throw around his units.

Codex wise? Guard. From the Manticore to the Vendettas to the Melta/Vet spam that tournament players never shut up about. Thier codex has a wide array of dealing with Orks (though some more overshadowed than others, like the actual Imperial Guard Artillery), including Hell Hounds, Sentinels, and Infantry Blobs.

Alright I'll just stop this here. We have had this arguement already in the past month or so. But instead of Guard vs Orks it was the entire Imperium of Man vs Orks. Search on Dakka and you will find it. I seemed to be one of the only ones left that was argueing in favor of the Imperials on the entire thread, and most were saying that the orks would win hands down.

I would put my thoughts into it, but I already did on the other one.

It depends on the armies fielded.
Meltavets/Vendetta spam vs Mech Deffwing? IG hands down.
Same Guard army vs Green tide? IG get massacred.

It all depends on who brings what to the table on the day.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

You should probably clarify that sort of thing when you ask. The fluff has at least a few people saying that if all the Orks in the universe banded together nothing could stop them, but that would never happen considering they like to fight each other too much.

Mech guard is generally considered one of the strongest builds around, so probably the guard.
Hellhounds/volume fire would make a mockery of ork infantry and they have plenty of AT too.

Ever thought 40k would be a lot better with bears?

In strict mechanics, IG has the upper hand.
Probably in tourney IG is going to have more wins.
Casual gaming, I'd give it to the Orks as there isn't as much min/maxing.

On the tabletop the IG is a damn hard army to beat.

In fluff the IG usually manages to die slow enough to orks for some color of Space Marines to save them, by themselves they tend to get slaughtered.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
