Reposted from dp9.com. Disclaimers: I'm DP9's web guy and thus biased; Models are 1/144 scale, about 12mm; void where prohibited;
We have two exciting new releases that are up for order now on our online store and will begin shipping on April 27th. The releases for this month include the Chargeur, an engineering design from NuCoal, and the South's Barnaby Gear Transport, a amssive wheeled vehicle designed to carry Heavy Gears from battlefield to battlefield.
The first is the Chargeur, which can be used in Heavy Gear Arena as an engineering Heavy Gear modified for metal-shredding melee combat.
Chargeur Two Pack (DP9- 9245, $20.75)
The Chargeur below is built for arena combat with mauler fist and vibro claws.
The Chargeur can also be assembled in a military-standard configuration with specializeds manipulators for engineering, ammunition loading, and other tasks.
The Chargeur Two Pack includes two of the special shoulder mounted Light Autocannons as well as one buzz saw, one mauler fist, one set of vibro claws, and teo chain swords as well as the pieces to build two Chargeurs.
Southern Barnaby Gear Transport (DP9-Barnaby, $29.95)
The Barnaby Gear Transport is a common sight in the Allied Southern Territories, especially near military bases and Gear factories. It is commonly used to transport Heavy Gears from place to place tor educe wear on leg actuators and city streets.Transports such as this allow pilots to ride in relative comfort in normal vehicles when combat is not expected, or they can ride in their Gears in the transport to allow for rapid deployment.
The new Southern Barnaby Gear Transport is currently available as a terrain piece or objective. This kit has several components including an insert with a Gear modeled on it that is 'walking' out of the dark inner hold that can be placed to provide a sense of interior detail.
The Barnaby can also be modeled with the forward ramp raised or with a 'blank' insert for your own details.
The Southern Barnaby Gear Transport and the Chargeur Two Pack are available for pre-order today and will start shipping next Friday, April 27th!

I like the transport. I'd be curious to see if it gets some rules in the upcoming Southern book. It's been a while since I peeked at my old 1st edition RPG books... does the North have an equivalent vehicle? IIRC, both sides of the original HG conflict usually had equivalent vehicles to fill their respective roles. Also, I'm definitely liking the price point. The resin kits tend to be run on the pricey side but this one sure bucks the trend. It's cheaper than the strider mech next to it!

Interesting looking transports, but uh, wouldn't that be really easy to hit? Side of a barn and all?
Otherwise, love the Chargeur. Industrial Mechs always appeal to me.

Those transports don't even look remotely functional. Looks more like something you'd see while watching that old British show, UFO.

I am pretty sure the North has a variant. Similar role, different look. I'd have to look through some books myself, but I think theirs may have individual bays for each Gear, whereas the BGT is one big bay.
Right now this is effectively 'terrain' but I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of rules are eventually released, though it may be a scenario-thing.
Shadelkan wrote:Interesting looking transports, but uh, wouldn't that be really easy to hit? Side of a barn and all?
Definitely. This isn't a battle-taxi or APC for mechs. Think more the equivalent of the soft-sided trucks often used to haul infantry around in reasonably 'secure' areas. You gotta get them from the factory to the base somehow. And I figure it's a safe guess that 'riding in a truck' miles are easier on the Gear and the pilots than walking around (or using the built-in- SMS).
Something to consider is that real-world tanks have miserable deployment ranges as compared to automobiles and such. I think most military forces recommend changing tracks after something like thousands of miles. Gears are in-setting supposed to be reliable, but trucking them around in 'safe' areas makes some sense if you consider maintenance concerns (which are a background issue in Heavy Gear Blitz).

Thats not an accident. It's supposed to be a all terrain transport halfway between the semi trucks you see hauling around race cars to events and the semis you see hauling cars to dealerships from the factory. It was never meant to defend itself; that's what the gears it carries are for!

Probably one of the only cases in which the things inside a military vehicle are more likely to survive than the vehicle itself.

What is the size/dimension of the transport? I might borrow it for Tau.
Guess it is resin and the half Gear is optional, right?

Most of their larger kits are resin but I can't say for certain with this one though... especially as the price is a heck of alot cheaper relatively than their normal resin kit prices. The vehicle actually costs $2 less than the walker you see next to it in the first pic... part of that relative savings might be due to its status as a DP9 webstore only item. The superheavy tank for heavy gear was cheaper as well when it was direct only.
I doubt it'll fit in too well with the Tau scale wise though as the gears in the pic next to it (as well as the one inside the cargo bay) are only a bit bigger than your average marine. Unless you're only transporting firewarriors or older metal scout suits (or gue'vsa.. sp?), the transport won't look to scale. The gear in the pic below is a slightly smaller older sculpt but should give you a general idea of the size. The current sculpts are maybe 20% bulkier and 10% taller.
edit: @ Balance: What's with the "void where prohibited" part of the original post, lol? Is it illegal to own a personal heavy gear in Dubai or something?

I'm pretty sure it's resin, although as Warboss says, the scale might not work for you. Could be a weird civilian vehicle for Tau, I guess.
From what I understand, the 'Exiting Gear' can be assembled flipped around for a blank surface, but I haven't seen the parts pic we put up for stuff yet, so I cannot guarantee. I usually try to put a disclaimer in that I am a contractor for DP9 and thus a bit biased, and was having some fun with it this time. Automatically Appended Next Post: CT GAMER wrote:That transport would look cooler with treads. And Jawas...
What wouldn't?
The newest Heavy Gear Blitz book did add the En-Koreshi, who are kind of like Dune's Fremen, but kind of Jedi/Kwisatz Haderach. Solitary infantry who are as well rumored and maneuverable as Gears and can fire both guns if they want, too.
The Northern equivalent of this is the Behemoth and has a pretty different look. The Behemoth's sides are slanted with two massive ramp hatches on each side and one to the rear. The cockpit is lower to the ground, near the wheels. There's also a fun write-up of an ammo-loader variant that has an ejecting cockpit and crane.
These are pretty definitely not something you'd want to be in in combat. They're neither maneuverable or fast, and have the large sensor profile flaw. (Obvious from the profile, I guess...) I would repeat my statement that this is more akin to the soft-sided trucks you often see in military movies for moving troops around.

Tiny transport is tiny. I approve of Jawas and Treads.
Hmm... What if I took Chimera sides+treads, fitted them to the side of the truck without those weird wheels? Ythink that'd work?

only thing I didn't like about the model.
The body is nice and rugged looking. Not sexy or stylish, but seems like something that is built to be practical and for combat.
but the wheels look like something that came from a Fisher-Price pre-school toy car.
perhaps some bigger, monster truck looking tires, tracks or a half track look can do wonder IMO.

It would be neat to see one with tracks. I was surprised the Northern version, the Behemoth, didn't use tracks, actually.
The 'balloon wheels' are definitely inspired by anime sources like Robotech and VOTOMS.
