Defiler (denny paid for it)
Defiler 5
Deathripper 4
Skarlock 2
NIGHTMARE 10

Personally, I think Denny runs really well with a ranged element, with her feat and/or CG to take Cryx's mediocre ranged offense to spectacular.

I'd try to find the points to replace an arc node with a leviathan, or, if you're on a budget, a pistol wraith.

interesting....

so maybe something like this?

pDenny +5
Defiler (denny paid for it)
Leviathan 9
Skarlock 2
NIGHTMARE 10
min Bane thralls 5
Bane UA 3
necrotech 1

What would be the most effective use of the leviathan? shooting at large gase targets? it seems focus hungry with Rof 3 or is there some trick?

Feat turn looks like this for me:

1-position bonejacks
2-feat
3-crippling grasp your hardest target
4 unload 3 leviathan shots (1 damage boosted) at an effective RAT +4 (+6 if aiming, which is possible, depending on how aggressively you positioned it on the prev. turn) and POW +6 (against a large target) for enough to brutalize something, or you can do some other combination, to ensure hits, etc. based on the target, of course.

The other turns, I rarely put more than 1-2 focus on the leviathan and use it as a medium-weight support piece (so people hopefully begin to ignore it as a huge threat). People forget it's good in melee, too, so it makes a good late-game melee element, if it's survived.

Steady also helps it block LOS more reliably, if you need it defensively, and it moves slowly enough that your necrotech can usually keep pace.

hmm.... interesting.

would it work to put the necrotech with NIGHTMARE? or would that out him too close to the fighting?

I don' find that mechanics are good at supporting melee pieces: they're too close, like you were wondering, and they tend to take hits harder and faster, so there often isn't a lot to repair

…Vs. ranged heavies, which typically aren't taking a ton of damage, combined with natural durability, meaning they're not likely to go down quickly and will be taking advantage of the attrition advantage mechanics offer.

A leviathan certainly isn't at the top of the list of "must have"s, in my opinion, but I think Denny really makes it hum.

BTW, 30 points is a strange number, and I'm not sure why that's the size you're playing, but the first thing I'd do at larger games is put another arc node back in your list. I'd recommend that now, but I'm not sure what to take out w/o losing something key...

so maybe do 35 and add in a defiler?

That's really to taste. I'm not a fan of the Nightwretch, but just about anything can be solid with Denny's feat/CG combo, and they're all solid choices.

I'd probably go with the Defiler or a Ripjaw, simply because you're not wasting a point (and I don't really like the Machine wraith or scrap thralls, and feel 2 necrotechs is overkill), but Cryx has a plethora of arc nodes that are worth taking.

The Defiler's the easiest to use, since it just always wants to be at range (and conveniently has the same range as Venom, which is often my workhorse spell), but a Ripjaw has the advantage that, if your opponent tries to engage it, the threat isn't neutralized.
