So this came up in a game.

Enemy Chimera butted up directly in front of another enemy Chimera. We destroy:wreck the front from shooting and the vet melta squad emergency disembark. Now that squad can't do anything for the remainder of the turn, but its not their turn so couldn't do anything anyway! Am I missing something? Why make access points if they don't matter when vehices get wrecked.

The entire point of emergency disembarking rules is to prevent players from being able to disembark and then shoot/assault in the same turn if their access points are blocked.

As an example: This lets you do things like block a (non-assault) transport in your turn and be guaranteed that the unit can't assault you, as either the vehicle has to move, or the unit has to emergency disembark.

There is intentionally no downside for units that are forced out of their blocked (but not surrounded) vehicle.

It also stops you from driving forward in your Chimera, emergency disembarking out the front and then using the extra distance to assault or shoot with.
