Can any/all units(troops/Mechs/walkers) pivot to fire at their target in the shooting phase, or does it have to be done in the movement phase?

It has to be done in the movement phase, as pivoting counts as moving.

Troops it doesnt matter where there facing.

As far as Walkers/Vehicles they have a 45 degree Arc unless they have a turret where it doesnt matter.

Actually Walkers have a specific exception that allows them to pivot towards their target in the movement phase. Though the guns on a walker do have a 45 degree Arc if they are immobilized.

1. Pivoting without moving counts as stationary...

2. 45 degree arc the way their facing or a 45 degree arc of pivoting? ( in shooting phase )

#1: You have to be able to move to pivot a non walker vehicle, that is why you can only pivot in the movement phase, even if the vehicle is only pivoting without moving and that counts as stationary.

#2: 45 degree arc the way they are facing if immobilized. If not immobile they can pivot 360 degrees to try and get LoS on their target.

A walker that is not immobilised may and must pivot to face his target (ie have it within his fire arc) in the shooting phase. Other vehicles may only pivot in the movement phase.

Follow these two simple rules to ensure a happy Dakka experience:

Rule 1 - to be a proper 40K player you must cry whenever a new edition of the game is released, and always call opposing armies broken when you don't win.

Rule 2 - Games Workshop are always wrong and have been heading for bankrupcy within 5 years since the early 90s.

Just to be clear on #2 lol

Example : My Russ in the shooting phase has a spons let's say that's block by a tree but by pivoting the model I could gain LOS with all guns, that's valid?

( not immobilized )

No, Pivoting in the shooting phase is for walkers that are not immobilized only. (I thought that was clear from the context) Regular non-walker vehicles that are not immobilized have to stay in the same orientation they were in at the end of the movement phase.

Also the 45 degree Arc is for Hull mounted weapons.

Pintle mounted weapons and Turrets are free to turn in the shooting phase to point at the target.

Sponson weapons have whatever Arc they would actually be able to traverse if they were not glued in place.

Diezel - No, that is not valid, as your tank is not a Walker

Vehicles pivot in the movement phase only
Walkers have a specific exception to this, allowing (requiring them) to pivot in the shooting phase.
