Hello

I looked and aside from seeing that you can place a unit in reserve, I haven't found anything explaining how the unit comes from the reserves.
Anyone would like to enlighten me ? =)

Thanks !

It's actually something done in deployment. when you deploy you can keep one figure in reserve. placing him last after your opponent has put down all his figures.

1. You are deploying guys first. You have 10 figures.

2. You put down 9 of the 10 on the board.

3. He then puts down all but one figure.

4. You can then put down your last figure. Now that you can see some of his troops you can put it in an advantageous place. But then he can do the same with his last one. I do this a lot with my infiltrating troop.

Strategos L2 skill allows for you to hold back two figures in "reserve". L3 can prevent your opponent from putting a figure out after you.

Other things you might be thinking of as "reserves" would be Airborne Deployment troops and Hidden troops. Both of those are not on the board at the beginning of the game.

Airborne Deployment
troops depend on the level of Jump you take.

Level 1- Parachutist (comes in on edge of board)

Level 2- Airborne Infiltration (same but better choice of edge)

Level 3- Combat Jump (drops down where ever you want)

Level X- Tactical Jump (as skill taken by some leaders. The only one I know is Van Zant from Ariadna)

Hidden troops
are TO Camo figures that do not start on the board. They are completely invisible. You write down where he is on a piece of paper. Only something with the Sensor skill can find him. And that's only if they actively say they are searching for him.

Both of them do not contribute to the order pool until they are "on" the board either as a figure or camo token. You don't need an order to bring them on the board or reveal them.

From the wiki: "Each player can place a single figure in reserve while deploying. This miniature is placed after his opponent’s initial deployment (If placing first) or after the opponent has placed their reserve miniature (If placing second)."

So basically you leave one guy and see how your opponent deployed than you put that guy accordingly. It might be interesting to pick something with Infiltration or Mechanized Deployment also I had fun with this and mines. There is quite a bit of things you can do this way. I hope this helps.

Thanks a lot !
I hadn't grasped you placed it after normal deployment.
I still had 40k's mindset about reserves and models coming on the board midgame from a side of the table
