Space Marines are a pretty natural counter to Orks, and Black Reach gets you a bunch of both armies. You're very new to the game though from what I can tell, so I'd wait a while before getting into anything different.

Imperial Guard are perhaps the most serious and logical army, plus it is pretty diverse.

I wouldn't want to paint an IG army after painting an Ork horde, I can tell you that.

Space Marines - Though I would go for a shooty army - to have something totally different than your orks. If we are talking vanilla, I would lean toward Vulkan, Pedro or perhaps even Ultramarines ( for the tactical withdrawal rule). If you are playing a mechanized ork, go with a total on foot marine with devastators and Dreadnoughts. If you play a can wall, perhaps a mechanized rhino or razorback hoard.

DE are maybe the antithesis of orks from the choices given;Shooty and a bit fragile.

Marines are always a good way to go. They can balance out and if you have a friend who wants to play with one of your armies marines aren't that hard to figure out.
