Haha, i thought that was pretty lame. I think Dakka might block it though, not sure. I was quite impressed with the number of posts until i saw how long it had taken. I could have done it quicker, lol.

You cannot simply delete an account.
The account has probably been banned. It's now up to the users not to click on an obvious spambot.
Also, a lot more spambots have been getting to Dakka recently. Any ideas why, Lego my man?

Whenever you guys come across this sort of thing, we really appreciate it when you report it. It doesn't do any good, however, to respond to spambots in the thread (that's just more spam).

Is it not possible to delete all posts by a user or to delete the account completely? I would imagine having to delete 140+ spam messages at a time would be a nightmare.

It is not possible to delete an account, as it would require a ton of coding to fix the holes it left.

How often do spambots get in and what is there in place to stop them?
I ask because the last forum i MODed for had some issues and we never really resolved them. It'd be good to know in future.

I just PM a mod and basically say "this new guy looks suspicious" and put a link to their profile page. Sometimes it'll be the name (usually how I spot them) sometimes they'll have their spam link in their profile page, but most of the time it's just an odd name until they actually start the spamming; and there's nothing wrong with having an odd name.
