Brought to you by Hard Knox Games
www.hardknoxgames.com/

We will be using 6th Ed for the tournament.

Flyers, Allies, and Terrain are all in!

We are 30 miles south of Louisville KY and want to have an amazing tournament for years to come.

This is a 50 person tournament and we are putting our money where our mouths are. No crappy old broken terrain. No small dingy barely lit play space. We are going all out to make this amazing! We hope to see you there!

1,850 Pt. Warhammer 40,000 Tournament

Location: Radcliff Community Center, 230 Freedom Way Radcliff, KY 40160
Date and Time: July 28th, doors at 8AM, games at 10am.
Cost: $25/player. INCLUDES LUNCH! (and not a crappy lunch either!)

Army Composition: 1,850 pts./player.
Rounds: Four rounds, each consisting of two hours of game play, with fifteen minutes per player additional time for deployment.

Players need to bring at least 6 copies of your list (one for the each opponent, one for the TO and one for you)

Models: Models need to be painted (for full painting score), and conversions are totally fine (must be recognizable as the model it represents), but proxies are not allowed. If you have questions about whether a model would count as a conversion or a proxy, email us or stop by and ask us.

Scenarios: Scenarios will be made available one month before the event (plenty of time to practice).

Prizes: Will be announced closer to the tournament date. Prizes will defiantly be worth your time money, sweat and blood.

Prizes will be given for Overall Best, Best General, Best Sportsman, Best Painted, and fun door prizes will be announced throughout the day.

Give us a call or shoot us an email to sign up!

Dang if I had my army painted up I would do this in a heartbeat, sounds like an awesome tourney!

You can totally bring and play with an unpainted army, you just wouldn't get full points for the painting score.

So come on out and play

For that whole conversions bit, are you accepting models that use 3rd party parts, like say a cadian guardsman with a head swap? Or are you guys one of the strict, "GW only" type tourneys. According to guys at my store, most of the tournaments around where I live require at least 50% of the model be GW, but I know there are some where it's GW or nothing.

Not complaining, just asking so I know which models would be able to be taken and which can't (I do lots of conversions)

Seeing as how GW is no longer offering prize support I really see no reason to be beholden to there tournament rules. As long as your conversion is recognizable as what it represents I'm all for it.

A question I'm sure many TO's will be dealing with;

How will this tournament handle terrain? In 6th it seems terrain is placed after deployment zones are chosen. Will the terrain be pre-placed for tournaments?

And, if so, how does this interact with fortifications? Are they going to be allowed? Where can they be placed (and when), and what happens if they just don't fit

These are all great questions, my intention is to have an answer. Ext week for all of this and will post it here.

Sadly I am on vacation with my family till tomorrow so I won't get a chance to read my book till Monday.

So players take turns putting down terrain before every game?

Interesting.

The tables will be preset with terrain, you will be able to bring your own as part of the FOC

Are there rules for where the fortifications can be placed? In your own deploy? Anywhere on the table? What happens if there's no place big enough to fit a giant piece of LOS blocking terrain

the brb says put down fortifications, then take turns putting down terrain.

If the terrain is pre-set, the fortifications seem to confer a pretty big advantage.

We are still play testing it. How it will most likely be resolved is that players will role off as normal and once you start deploying your army you will deploy your terrain (the FOC stuff). My thought on it is, that you put down your terrain so that it cannot touch or be within a set distance of pre-placed terrain. I will have definitive answers to all this early next week.

Wannted to give everyone a quick update.

We have about 10 spots left so Please give us a call and let's get this thing full up.

So for updates.....

Allies are in. Terrain is allowed in the FOC, we will be preplacing some terrain and you will be able to place yours as well.

We will not be doing random terrain effects.

Did not see this , sorry for other post, here is the information some asked for. The event organizer put them out in the store a little while ago.

The School of Hard Knox Warhammer 40k Tournament
July 28, 2012
Colvin Community Center
230 Freedom Way Radcliff, KY 40160

Start Time: 0900
Lunch Provided
1850 Points
4 Games
Warhammer 40K 6th Edition Rules are being used
No Forge World Rules
Call for reservations: 270-352-5669. Slots still available.

The Final Scenarios are:

Total War!
The time for feints and tricky maneuvers is over, now it’s time to finish the job. If it moves and doesn’t look like you and yours, Kill It!
Scenario Rules:
Hammer & Anvil Deployment, Night Fighting, Random Game Length
Scoring: Win/Draw
10/5 – Purge the Alien. Earn more Victory Points from wiping out enemy units, or table your opponent.
7/3 – All Your Base. Have more scoring units in your opponents deployment zone then they have in yours to win this objective.
4/2 – The Head of the Beast – Kill your opponents Warlord and keep yours alive to win this objective.

Patton vs Rommel
Your general is one of great renown and now he faces his opposite on the enemy side. Will this be a grand showdown of tactical genius or will one of the generals be shown to be a fraud!
Scenario Rules:
Dawn of War Deployment, Objectives (3 objectives + special), Patton, Night Fighting, 5 Turn Game Length
Special: The Warlord: each side will designate that sides Patton/Rommel and may choose their warlord trait. In addition, if he should die, mark where he was killed, that is now an objective that ONLY your enemy can hold, you can only contest it.
10/5 – Seize Ground. Control more objectives then your opponent to win this objective. Remember if you kill your enemy’s “Patton” he counts as an objective for you.
7/3 – Only Room for One of Us. Kill your enemies “Patton” and keep yours alive to win this objective.
4/2 – Clear My Battlefield. Score more Victory Points for wiping out enemy units.

Gold Rush!
A recent convoy carrying gold (or unobtanium, or Twinkies, or whatever) was attacked and much of the gold strewn about the battlefield, and now it’s yours for the taking! Unfortunately someone else has gotten the same idea.
Scenario Rules:
Dawn of War Deployment, 5 Objectives (with one being placed in the exact center), Night Fighting, Five Turn Game Length, Line Breaker, Slay the Warlord, First Blood
Scoring: Win/Draw
10/5 – Get the Gold! Hold more objectives than your opponent.
7/3 – Remove the Competition! Earn more Victory Points from killing enemy units than your opponent. Each unit completely destroyed is worth 1 VP.
4/2 – Take it all! Line Breaker, first blood, and Slay the enemy Warlord scoring. (Whoever has more points wins this objective).

Rolling Up the BIG Guns!
The fate of the battle, perhaps the entire conflict, hangs in the balance and one thing can turn the tide. It’s time to bring up the big guns and jam them down the enemy’s throat!
Scenario Rules:
Vanguard Strike Deployment, 4 Modified Objectives (2 Objectives placed in each deployment zone, also heavy support choices count as scoring and contesting units), Night Fighting, 5 Turn Game Length
Scoring: Win/Draw
10/5 – The Big Push. Earn more Victory Points from objectives then your opponent. Remember your Heavy Support choices can claim and contest the objectives.
7/3 – Land grab. If you control more table quarters than your opponent, you win this objective. Control a table quarter by having a scoring unit in it with no enemy contesting units.
4/2 – Threat Suppression. Destroy your opponent’s most expensive, non-vehicle unit, while keeping yours alive to win this objective.

These are the final scenarios as of 7-21-2012.

(post for the event organizer, for question please call him)

If I was vain I would list stuff to make me sound good here. I decline. It's just a game after all.

House Rule -A common use of the term is to signify a deviation of game play from the official rules.

Do you allow Forgeworld 40k approved models and armies?
