My wife had this package of Claycrete, a super refined form of paper mache for craft projects.
Costs about $7 for a pound. Thought i'd try it out as a basing material for my Incursion minis.

So I took a small pinch of the stuff, and put it in a tray of water.
Yep, I do use my thumbnail as a paint palette.

While wet, I applied it on the base, and teased and pushed it with a sculpting tool.
I'm sure a toothpick would work ok.

The result while still wet.
(Note, This zombie only has a rough base coat---I'm not done painting it yet )
Now doesn't this stuff make perfect snow terrain? I think so.

The instructions on the package says it takes 1-2 days to air dry. It also said you could put it in an oven at 165 degrees to speed drying time. My oven's lowest temp was 170. I took several zombie minis, put them in a pan, and baked them for about 40 minutes, checking every 15 minutes or so. I was worried if the heat would affect the metal or the plastic bases, but they came out safe and sound.

Wife:"Honey, why is the oven on?"

Me; "Oh, I'm just baking a bunch zombies sweetheart."

My finished base photo came out too fuzzy. I was too embarrassed to post it. I'll put a better one up later.
But take my word for it, this stuff dries rock hard and takes paint just fine. Washes will work well on this stuff too.
As said before, Claycrete will make perfect snow. Its easy to add more wet Claycrete to the dry stuff to build up the base.
I estimate a 1 pound bag of this stuff will easily base hundreds of miniatures.

Hope you found this info useful.
