If I have a hive tyrant surrounded by several paladins all in base contact with him from a previous turn.

Theen I assault with 2 tyrannofexes which come into base contact with paladin #1 and paladin #2 respectively.

Thus at the beginning of the battle we have a hive tyrant in basee contaact with all 5 paladins, paladin #1 is in baase with tyrannofex A and hive tyrant, palaadin #2 is in base with tyrannoofex B and the tyrant.

Can any other paladins in this combat declare attackks versus the tyrannofeexess?

This was errata'd in the FAQ. You can find it here

Page 41 – Multiple Combats, Attacking.
A third bullet point should be added, as follows:
• Models that at the beginning of the combat (before
any model attacked) were engaged with more than
one enemy unit, but were in base contact with just one
of the enemy units, must attack that unit.

Basically you can attack any unit you are in Base Contact with even if you were in base contact with one unit and another unit assaulted you, you can fight either unit as long as you are in base contact with both units.

if a model is in base contact with only one unit at the start of the combat then they can only attack the unit they are in base contact with. its in the rule book lol.
only models in base contact with both units or engaged models within 2 inches of models in base contact with both units can choose

Actually Welsh, the third bullet point is only in the small rulebook. It was errata'd into the big rule book.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Added the orange, as that is what the Errata says.

In all three bullet points, the word ‘combat’ will be
changed to ‘round of combat’.

It wasnt even RAW people, it was people who didnt read the rule particularly well

By their reading the first round of combat could never be fought. When you get something so rediculous you can usually ignore it

Thanks for clarifying all this fellas I had this situation come up with a spectator at my local store that tried to claim that my opponent's paladins could all target my tyrannofexes because its all part of the same combat and they are only in coherency.
