I think the new paints add a whole new perspective to painting especially the new Armageddon Dust, which I fell in love with after basing my Catachan with it
So what do you guys think?

Absolutely thrilled. More paints, more kinds of paint - I love it. GW scored a lot of brownie points with me on this one.

They seem to be ok, more paints and types of paint will make it easier to paint. But it will a looooong time before my old paints are used

Not a big fan - the new Layer paints basically have fewer pigments in them, because of the more liquid consistency. This basically means, that you get even less per jar than before. May be good for people who paint directly from the pot (which you should never do), but to me it has the feel of a concealed price increase.

I've had a dabble with one or two of the new paints and I'm rather impressed

The skarsnik green is fantastic as a final highlight for ork skin.
ALSO
evil suns scarlet is more or less a 1:1 match for blood red, but has much much better coverage (doesn't do that wierd half streaky/half clumpy thing blood red is notorious for)

Havent bought any yet, considering they dont match up. I'll have to pick them up when I run completely dry on something or start a new army.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

I like everything i have used so far, a few base paints, a couple of layers and the texture for bases.

I am not a fan of the new nuln oil though. For some reason it is drying glossy. It may be do to the fact that i am using it on The Army Painter primer, but badab black never had that issue. Is anyone else seeing this? Perhaps i got a bad pot?

A lot of washes tend to dry glossy, especially the vallejo brand as they're a resin base. Haven't noticed it on the new GW brand washes, though, & I used Nuln Oil a little so far (mostly for basing, I wash over grey primer then drybrush grey, probably why I don't notice it).

I just tried the new yellows today and they seem to be the best on the market (though still not good)

I like the new paint range. I use armegedon dust with an agrax earth shade wash to base my BA.

I like the base colours, they seem to dry quickly, which is good.

I don't like the layers - give me more pigment and let me add water myself. The washes seem decent

I haven't seen any of the paints in person but iv'e seen a ton of reviews on them. I see that the layers are to watered down, and the drybrush paint is to thick. I also keep hearing that there are no equals to the old paint line. There is no equal to the old blood red or codex grey.

Important note: These are my opinions of the paint range and should not be treated as facts to indicate my level of painting prowess.

The Ronseal Range from GW!

I have half painted my Warpfire dragon from FW using the new Citadel paint range using the greens. Can´t remember all the new names but I used the base, layer, dry, shades and glaze that comprises the ´new greens´.

Overall I found them surprisingly good, normally use Vallejo game/model colour paints but I was visiting Warhammer World last week and the guys did a little demonstration and they peaked my interest and I picked some up.

Base paints, yeah these were good. They have more colour choices than the old foundation paints but are maybe not as pigmented. Didn´t find it much of an issue though as I based my Warpfire dragon using an airbrush, so doing an extra layer wasn´t an arduous task. More colours than the foundation paints (which I loved) so I consider these an acceptable replacement if not exactly as densely pigmented, but I´ll live with it.

The layer paints do seem to have more medium in them than the old range but this wasn´t a surprise as I had read about it on this very forum weeks before it was released. I don´t see this as a bad thing either, I tend to paint very thin anyway and ´layer´ it up, they gave nice coverage over the green base coats and went on smooth. Nothing earth shattering here but the range of colours in layer paints sequence is really nice and they really do what it says on the tin, ie: layer nicely.

The dry paints are quite baffling at first, I was thinking it was a dodgy pot I´d got at but the chaps at warhammer world assured me it was supposed to be that dry....clue was in the title i guess lol. A little went a long way on my Warpfire dragon as I was trying to drybrush the textured areas subtly, it provided a nice highlight on the raised surfaces and I felt like it was easier to use than a normal paint for dry brushing. I always end up with to much on the brush and take ages to scrub 99% of it off. So far this paint does what its supposed to; makes dry brushing easier for me, so I´m happy with it.

The shades.....hmm.....there different from the old washes certainly. I don´t recall exactly what the technical difference is but I wasn´t overly impressed with the results. That could of course be down to me not using them entirely correctly, I think I need to experiment more to find my touch with these. However having watch Les Bursleys latest videos on youtube with the oil washes over matt varnish I´m much more likely to be experimenting with that first. He got fantastic results (does´nt he always though!) and it´s really inspired me to ditch the premade washes and give the oils a go.

GW´s green glaze worked nicely for me, re-energising the ´green-ness´ on some of the textures of the warpfire dragon, it´s really easy to apply out of the pot and just jazz´s up areas in a few seconds. I approve GW.

Overall yeah they did alright here I think. They gave the range more structure which can be good for some people (me) but it has some flexibility. I´m not going to replace my Vallejo range with GW´s entirely but will keep experimenting with different colours to see what results I get. I was open minded about them and they did a good job on my model so far. Like everything though I´ll mix and match. They are idiot proof and do almost exactly what it says on the tin.

I liked the paint but I liked the guide better as it has a DVD so it covers all types of learning. Seeing it being painted, listening/ reading to the instructions, and finally doing the painting
