So I'm running a fairly competitive list with necrons at 1250 It is as follows... x2 HQ Overlord w/scythe on a command barge = 180 (360) x2 Troop warriors x8, cryptek of destruction x2 (1x solar pulse) in a ghost ark = 309 (618) x3 Heavy Annihilation barge = 90 (270) =1248 It's a fairly simple list but at its point level is incredibly resilient has a decent amount of anti-tank (4 missiles, the lords "sweep" attacks, and mass str 7 shots, not to mention the glancing gauss). The problem I'm having is that I really have no idea what to do to expand it to 1850 (the standard tournament point level for singles). Basically I want to keep the core as is, and I want to keep the army mobile, and I dont really want any assault units like lychguard as they dont fit in very well with the theme I have going on. So do you guys have any advice? More arks? tomb blades, destroyers, scarabs (not a big fan of scarabs).

In my local gaming circle with have a necron player that runs scarabs and ghost arks, alongside what you're running and they're really effective. He also runs something like 6 Crypteks, 2 with solar pulses and the others have that 36" S7/8 shooting attack. I'm not very savvy with the new necrons but I'm sure this is his list and it's really good.

I like your 1250 list, as its very shooty thought I want to ask how you plan deal with Assault units?
HQ : Your sorted with Dual Surf board lords.
Troops : As you are running Warrior Blocks maybe a Ghost Ark + troops and H of Destruction would benefit you. If you have it in-between your warriors both units can benefit from its regeneration if/when they lose models.
Have a 5 man Warrior squad in reserve just to claim your objective late game.
You should take advantage of your dual Royal Courts and use more H of Destruction Cypteks , they can a cheap and very useful units. Having two per warrior squad make them a threat to Armour and High save units.
Fast Attack : When your defending or advancing, Wraiths will serve you well. I know you may not want an Assault unit but at 1850 pts your warrior squads are going get into combat, which they will most likely lose, and you lose there great firepower. A squad of wraiths can either charge before they happens and deal a lot of damage or come to the rescue.
I haven't used Tomb Blades yet but I will bet they will really work well in this list. They make a great detraction unit that can pull your opponents army out of shape, contest objectives late game and take out small support units.
I will say, don't give up of Scarabs, as anti armour goes they will serve you better than most other units in 40k if you play them right, even if they just soak up firepower that leaves your other units to clean up next turn.
H/S : Again you sorted for this section. Annihilation Barges are great.

I have played and seen a few games against the new crons and personally i think the best step forward is death marks. They do a hell of a lot of damage when played right and can be invaluable in what they can do. not only that i believe a tactic the player uses with them is to use them with veil of darkness as it allows the death marks to use there ability (mark the opponent for death or something) on the opponent, then return to reserve by the ability veil of darness, only to pop up again and redo this ability once more causing havoc throughout your opponents army. I dont know too much about the new necrons only that some of it is dead scary.

I dont believe you can ever return to reserve, with the exception of the nightscythe dying. Automatically Appended Next Post: so in honor of the new units, how do you think this would do?

That would fill out my anti-tank rather nicely I'd say, alternatively I could use 5 tomb blades with particle beamers.

It takes the Ctan to do it (the exact power escapes me right now) but it is indeed possible.
Im guessing that the next FAQ and/or Errata will include if that allows the Deathmarks to use two marks or not ... RAW atm indicates that its possible though.

How about tomb blades though? Giving them shadow looms and beamers might seem expensive but that's essentially a 40 pt model that has a str 6 small blast, moves up to 24" (and has a 2+ cover save when it does), not to mention the reanimation. I could see these as a triple function unit, light vehicle killer (could easily reach back line IG stuff too), horde killer (5x str 6 blasts!) and objective contesting!
