Sup guys,
Just wanted to see what people would like to see more of, or think a fun army would be.

Firstly, a bit of a background, I currently play daemons, I played CSM before that, and Eldar before that. I am looking for a new tournament worthy army that is fun to play, not too common, and a little unorthodox play style.

I refuse to play power armor because it is too boring, so basically, xenos only. So the choices are:
Orks
Eldar
Dark Eldar
Sisters
Tyranids
IG
Necrons
Tau

Of those, I dont like Tyranids, nor IG. Tyranids I just dont like the fluff, and the models arent great. IG are too much of a sit back and shoot army. Dark eldar are a tad cheesey, but arent out of the question.
What do you guys think I should start, and why, and if you want, an example 2k or 1500 list!

Eldar, again

IF a new codex comes out for them they will be a decent army to have

Otherwise it's hard to recommend. Maybe a little more info in what sort of army you want to play this time?

Then I'd opt for Necrons - new decent models and codex.

Necrons.

Brilliant Codex.

Lots of unorthodox trickery.

Good Battleforce and models.

Eldar.

Eldar trickery. They are also hard to play, but when you learn them, it's awesome.

You dont like IG because they sit back and shoot? Yet you are willing to play Tau and Necrons which are even more shooty.
IG are known for their Tanks, vehicles and artillery and being able to bring a lot. You can bring a demolisher tank in a 500 point Army, who doesn't love that?

I personally recommend IG because not a lot of people play them (in my area) people sometimes underestimate their tanks capabilities and they aren't one dimensional.

Dedicated Transports, Tanks, Artillay, Valkyries, You can even get fancy with the DKoK.

For not wanting power armour army, why include SoB?

Orks or Necrons I reckon.

Yeah, this. Plus, it is very possible to play IG extremely aggressively, especially foot lists once you figure out what abblative wounds are for. As Abraham Lincoln liked to say, we have overwhelming men and materiel, woe to our enemies when we gain a general who understands the implications of it.

As for which army you should play, you've given us practically nothing to work with other than "not power armor". You're going to have to get into a lot more details about what you're looking for in fluff, miniature range and playstyle to get any real advice.

Necrons are new, and have even new-er models out soon, which is always a good thing. And they're apparently pretty fun, as well.
Eldar are rumored be released soon..
Tyranids are fun! And EAT THINGS! And have some cool models. And stuff...

Horrid internal balance. Atrociously priced units. Wierd, highly anti-fluff horde-style gameplay. A strong inclination towards repetive, uninspired MSU-spam with very few thoughts or concerns for unit synergy in the list. Overtly dumbed-down "point-and-click" playstyle.

In all honesty I am very surprised that this many people responded. I was expected one person to shout "Tyranids"! Then it die, but since you all replied, I feel like I should expand upon my desires and respond.

Tau I would consider in all honesty, they can be a very tactically challenging army while retaining their own identity. But I am so used to play daemons that all shooting and only kroot for assaulting might throw me off.

Eldar are a serious possibility, they were my original as I said, If a new codex comes out I would porbably use them.(If craftworlds came back). So that they would have more flavor. I am not worried about difficulty of play of any army as I believe I can handle most armies after playing daemons, CSM, and eldar.

Necrons are probably my #1 choice right now, since they are a new codex thus more up to date and better rules. Also the fact they have some new cool models that just badass. But the drawback is that alot of people are picking them up, and I prefer rarer armies.
Granted they can run so many cool crazy combos, wraithwing, scarab farm hilariousness, nightfighting, shooty with scythes and crypteks. They have alot of great options.

Yes, I dont like IG because they sit back and shoot and can do it all game while holding a wall of chimeras that simply move a few inches and shoot to protect their bigger guns. I find it to be a very boring style of play that many IG players have. Leafblower or most variations I see as extremely boring, yet effective armies.
Tau are very different because they do not have the durability of IG, which is an odd thing to say. Ig have the spam of armor 12, while tau protection relies on kroot, or careful movement of devilfish and piranhas. They dont have the firepower that IG has, I think that is quite evident of a match of IG gunline firepower vs Tau gunline.

I would consider playing assaulty/foot guard, I honestly LOVE leman russes. Hilariously amount of choices and solid armor, they are a fun unit I would probably use. But I think IG are lower on my list at this point.

I am aware that SoB have power armor, but they are chicks, and they dont have t4/str4. When I meant power armor. I meant their statline, not just the wargear, though I did not specify before.

Now Orks are honestly one of my favorite armies to watch, or play against. Simply due to the fact they are fun, cool, and hilarious. The thing stopping me from getting them is the huge time dedication of buying/building/painting all of them. But If i could choose to have any army built/painted for me, it would be orks... SO that may tell me something.

Smitty, tyranids would be hard for me to choose, due to the fact they rely on assault alot and are quite weak like daemons. Nids are alright, They may be in the bottom of the list also...

Tinsil, refer to Zweischneid's response for why i dont like them...

Thank you for all responding and giving your opinion.

Tau are loads of fun, until you get into CC.

I was looking into GK or SW as a new army, but I want to part with my tau first to cover the startup cost.

Yeah, I'd seriously consider foot guard then. Played properly, foot guard are a very aggressive, charge forward in a mass wave like an ork green tide, but they also come with more serious shooty options as well allowing you to field a in-your-face mass horde close combat army with lots of support options.

The only problem with this is that it requires a lot of models. On the plus side, though, you have the killing power to table all-termie armies in such a way where your army looks like this when it attacks:

That's hardly the sit-and-shoot style of leafblower guard you're probably used to seeing.
