I was given the old How To Paint Citadel Miniatures book and a Space Marine Starter Kit as a gift and have decided to carry on the hobby.

Its about a month later now and they have now released a new version of the book, is it worthwhile getting since i have the old one??

Is there much of a difference?? is the content pretty much the same??

My honest opinion is use the book as a reference but other then that just check here and videos on youtube. If you are new to the hobby and not vert artistic you won't be able to paint like the pros, it takes years of time or an enormous amount of natural talent.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

The whole paint range has changed so if you want to follow the GW prescribed method of painting you would have to get the new book and all the new paints.

However.....There is another way......

Vallejo and a few others have matches for all the old paints, you can use the book you have and not have to worry about all the color changes.

Or a 3rd way is to use the techniques you like from the books, learn more of them here on Dakka and other places on the web, and paint your mini's as you see fit.
