20mm US Armour for late-war KGN battles;

Couldnt find my bag of .50s so only the M10s got them as a handy way for those who dont know their TDs from their elbows to tell them apart from the M36s! Tanks with two aerials are command vehicles for the squadrons. Off to order some MGs from SHQ...

Grubby, dirty and lovely. This is the effect I want on my Cold War Chieftains, Challengers and Warriors, how did you achieve the brown mud, is it a weathering powder...

So I would paint the Green and Black camo on and then the dusting of the dirt? (using the excellent Force on Force )

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

They look great - although they have less crew figures than seems to be your normal approach. As I've said before, it's the figures that really bring your models to life. The weathering is very realistic - which means it's perhaps a bit understated for wargaming models. I wonder if a bit of drybrushing/highlighting might give the models some more impact visually?

Also - the cerise panel on the engine deck was not textured like a blanket or camo net - it was relatively 'flat'.

Where exactly do you put more crew? I have three in each TD and commandersin the tanks... In fact 16 crew in 14 vehicles.

I suspect you just like to critic my stuff for the hell of it... Nothing would reach your high standards! Im beginning to think you dont like me...

As for the Air panels;

Looks like what Ive done...

I like to weather my vehicles realistically... as thats how they looked. I dont like 'cartoony' painting.

They look fine on my tables.

When ye showing some stuff off?

Put them everywhere! With monotone OD vehicles, the more crew the better.

I like your stuff very much, but as you know your subject so well I think it's fair to hold you to high standards Also, if you put photos up, you have to deal with criticism. Take it as a compliment.

Fair enough - I wasn't suggesting that you resort to the crude highlighting that's so common with WH40k vehicles. But with models in this scale, a lot of the subtlety disappears on the wargaming table - in photos at least. There's a whole separate discussion about painting models that look good in photos versus models that look good in the flesh, as it were.

When ye showing some stuff off?

Sadly, very little of what I built and painted for WW2 wargaming has survived multiple moves. Most of my surviving military models are 1:35 scale, and there's little point in putting up photos of those. I am trying to get back into it - which is one reason I've been so interested in what you produce.

Do an Oddball Sherman.

I know I was only joshing... Ye.

I know the pain of multiple moves... Its a killa on kits. I moved countries and that hurt!

More crew aye... Hmmm ok... Will see what I can do on the next batch.

As for the cerise ('neon red') air recognition panels, these were made of acetate, which I understand was an early form of plastic - the panels on your models look more like camo nets or blankets.

It's OT, but since you asked (and just to show that I'm not just someone trying to score cheap points), here is a 1:48 scale Panzer IV that I built and painted a few years ago. It's an Ausf H back-dated to an Ausf G. My local gaming group was looking at getting into 28mm WW2 wargaming, but it never took off and this was the only model that I finished at that time. It was intended for the Tunisian campaign (I know there's no evidence that any Panzer IVs from this period had a grey camo pattern, but it looked more interesting with it). It's a different approach to the way you weather your models, but it looks good on the wargaming table.
