Okay this is being of thought that Primarchs , who went walk about or disappeared , are out founding new chapters of marines to come back when the time of need is reached. Now I am also going with the thought that theses chapters are being formed some were far off and out of the typical sphere of influence of the Imperium.
I am wanting to build a Space Marine Chapter with the line of thought. I want them to fallow the Salamanders line and be of a founding from them. The Chain of thought I have been working with is this.
roughly 600 years or so back Vulcan, or at least a band of Salamanders land on this world. The populace of the world was Human, no doubt a last tribe of humans who had not been rediscovered yet. The Salamanders who landed here decided to
found it as a new world for Marines. Using there Gene seeds they proceed to manufacture new members and thus after a time the chapter was founded. There was a High ranking veteran, Tech marine, Apothecary and 6 Tactical Marines in the landing group
and from them the chapter was founded. ( I am a bit at a loss here and do not know if that is enough, if it is not then I will add in that the Apothecary brought some more gene seeds with him that he had harvested from a previous battle from fallen battle brothers.)
This is the basics for what I am working up and am wondering if it would go along with the 40k universe. I am going to start work on them and maybe if motivation kicks in, start a founding blog with pics and more back story. I really want to use the Salamanders as my starting point, they are my absolute favorite Space Marine chapter. I just do not want to use them because all is already known about them leaving me little creativity room to design them the way I want and name my guys. So this seemed like a way to do it.

My question to you is why the divergence in terms of the Primarchs and the founding of chapters? There's nothing stopping you from simply having a chapter founded from Salamander gene-seed and having its training cadre consist of a number of Salamander marines like you suggest.
Second, I have to say that almost nothing is known about the Salamanders, in fact of all the first founding legions, they're one of the least detailed in terms of their heroes and history. There's plenty of room to use them when it comes to naming marines and the battles they have fought.

Heres an idea for you:
The Salamander Chapter is nearing the end of a major crusade, in territories far from there homeworld. Depleted, they look towards local plantes for recruits to iniate on there way back to Nocture. In the process they land on a death world were they were able to recruit many new initiate.
Fast forwards several hundreds of years, many of those same recruits are now veterans and heroes of the chapter. The IoM is creating a new founding, and the Chapter master having heard of this, petition for a new successor chapter base upon that world. The High lords of terra accepts the offer. The Chapter Master then entrust all surviving members of that planet with the responsibility to built and then lead this new chapter.
The rest is history...or what ever you want it to be.

All the C:SM says is that there are none known that doesn't mean there aren't any. So like Halmyr says your idea works and there is no telling on how you want your chapter history works. I say go for it and have fun, that is the joy of 40K

The main reason I was thinking about the Primarchs on walk about was due to a conversation me and my gaming friends were having. The stuff about certain primarchs returning when the Emperor or chapter needed them most. Seems to me that this implies they are out growing forces and growing new armies to bring in during the darkest of times to save the Imperium. Now keep in mind nothing I have seen implies this, but it was in our conversation so I wanted to expand on it, that is why I went this path in my chapter creation.
I also really want to paint up my classic age landraider in salamander colors and age it all up and call it Vulcan's Anvil or something and imply that it is one of his lost relics lol. I am also thinking on a base Orange, yellow and white color pattern making there power weapons blue or green. Call them somehting like Copper Dragons or Solar Drakes or something like that

Just because there is no second founding does not mean theres is no subcequent.
As for vulkan, you have about 1000 year after the second founding to establish your chapter.
And this is one of the fun thing about wh40k, its fluff, not lore. Fluff does not take it self as seriously as lore, so go ahead and have fun with it.
The only thing I would skip in the history of your chapter is owning one of the four missing vulkan artifact, pretty sure those all go to the original chapter.

Actualy there from the cursed 21st founding. As for there gene-seed its only speculated thats its from the salamander chapter.
but again, fluff is fluff, we only know a fraction of the chapter, and as far as we know, there could be dozens successors

Well on the Primarchs there is no knowledge on Terra or in there archives of the Primarchs as they have been "erased" or "lost" or miss filed under Q instead of P lol but no one knows except the Emperor or perhaps the High lords and Inquisition and they are not the most talkative bunch. Then again the world they may be on may be undiscovered or in a mass Warp Storm that can last 1,000s of years at a time. Like when the Impirium first found the Tau they were primitives then a Warp storm 1,000s of years later you got them now.
On the chapter fluff i like the idea but what was there mission there ? I mean if they got stuck there i can understand that but why wouldn't they leave? Also I think the apothecary's all have extra Gene Seeds with them I'm not to sure on that. But its a great idea you have

That's actually what he said already. Don't worry, I made the same mistake when I first looked at his post.
