Nasty Nob on a Boar

Well, it's that season again. Time for the annual trip to Mordheim.
Last year, I won the league with Brets:
This year I'm taking a list I thought would be just for fun:
NIGHT GOBLINS!
5 Savage Snotlings, Boss, Shaman, 4 gobo boys, and 2 Fanatics.
Lessons learned from last year - daggers can kill you just as fast as anything else. Armor is not all it's cracked up to be. And helmets are worth the 10pts!
The boss is the smallest gobo, but as we know the sneakiest is the bestiest. Shaman is just a Shaman - got to have some magic to knock people off ledges and such...
Anywho - I'll post in a few weeks. Kick off is set for May 11th I think.
If you're in KC, come by and say Hello!

Just heard back from an e-mail I sent.
Hey Mark, yeah sorry i haven't put a flyer up yet I'll probably do it today. Opening weekend is going to be later than normal, I think Friday June 8 will be the first day. I needed a couple weeks after school let out to do some painting and hopefully some scenario generation. See you soon! Also if the website is still up I will be updating that soon.
Website is down if my link was correct. Hope he gets flyers put up. I am working on some more terrain. Always fun to add some more levels, ramps, hiding places.

Ok! So we've officially stated, though I was not there for the kick-off.
For two games in yesterday vs. Norse, Amazons, and Middenheimers.
I'm playing Freeblades as well on Sundays so I've got to keep my rules straight.
First game was an ambush of the Norse. Never played NG's before, so I don't know what to expect. Found out snotlings are pretty cool, weak but pointy sticks have their place. Fanatics are cool but balanced as they are expensive and don't gain any experience. Just to get another wound on those bad boys.....
The Shaman ended up getting his magical club, which is cool. But Ld 7 quickly reared its ugly head and I ran off the board first game.....
2nd game brought about a Monster hunt in which no one got to kill the monster as everyone ran off the board....
The Shaman gained a new spell of Gork Bugers! It is short range, but very effective when it goes off.
So, maybe i'll take the camera next time and post some pics like last year

Which night goblins rules set are you using? I looked at the one on Mordheimer and it was ugly. You had to buy madcap mushrooms for the fanatic prior to every game.

Yep, have to test for Animosity too.
We talked through this today when we played. Basically, I have to have 50gc each game to be able to use the Fanatics.
Hasn't been an issue thus far, but i had to self rout today at the end of our 2nd game as I ran out of time, so I have a lot of rolls to make up.
Dave got a nice bonus when my entire warband got to sit and do nothing for a turn and Joe got nerffed by a demonette showing up in his backfield.
Dave is up and running, already at 230 for his rating iirc. Not sure where he ended up today.

Well got through a 3 player game today and decided to team up with the Sisters to defeat the Norse. Objective was a monster hunt with a magic sword to the winner!
The norse wanted a quick win and got to go first.... So, the monster became the Young Chimera and we're off.
Norse head straight for the thing. We've got a modified maze set-up, so none of us can go right to it. But the monster also moves randomly, so the sisters have the edge early as he apparently likes women. A Flamer of Tzeench shows up and gives the Norse a little trouble to begin with, but only sticks around for a turn and doesn't get to hit much.
Come to think of it, we've had a rash of no random events lately and the NG's didn't have animosity today either . Anyway, the sisters get in position and the NG's move along a path we've found to the middle. I hold the caster, boss, and a few boys back just in case the Norse decide to get frisky, then I decide to be a goblin and blast one of his henchmen off the board with some snot of Gork. Next turn puts the Norse in contact with the Chimera, and they almost kill it in one turn.
I keep being sneaky and the caster has attracted the attention of the Norse. We have a nice little come to Gork meeting and the Fanatics take out the Norse Captain! However, he doesn't fail the Ld rolls and stays on for the fight. The Chimera does go down, and the Norse are in control of the body. Sisters and Fanatics try for a last push, but one of the lonely Norse has gotten into HtH with my boss, and knocks him out. NG's fail their Ld and are off the board. Sisters lose their Matriarch as well, and promptly fail their Ld, and are off the board.
So the Norse gain a sword with +1 Str (not that they need more + Str models!), and the two hero's I lost don't outright die. The Boss even got Frenzy out of the deal
That's all I got to play today. Good game and good fun.

Ok, update time and with PICs! Got in two games today vs. Norse and Sisters! First game: Ambush. The Norse is by far and away our highest warband rating, and he even volunteered! Good job. Sisters are on the South Side, with the NG's taking the North Side (I like the Cubs better anyway). I've been playing a lot of Fantasy Battle and run NG's in there too, so I forgot a few of my guys and had to sub in some Orks. We rolled a ton of events this game, so I'll highlight a few. Very first turn, I roll Earthquake and the Norse can't just run away. It's on for 2 turns and everyone has to move at half speed. The Norse Captain is making a break and has a good lead even with the event. 2nd is command is right behind, and I've got my sneaky snotlings coming up the rear just in case. He does eventually get run blocked and has to turn and fight, though he's not really scared of NG's, right? Then it's an all out free for all. Sisters get a friendly Ogre to help them out, which ends up turning on them and I gain control ( and a hefty 60GC tab if he survives). The sisters don't make it and their Capt get's taken down by the Wereshark. I've got control of the Ogre and feel like that would be a great way to die. I'm also winning combat and the dadgum Snotlings are making their points and some. The Shaman has the spell that blows Mork Buggers at the two nearest enemy within 12", and I've been using it to great effect. I kill the witch, but he's got the Capt and 2nd close to off the board. Things are getting close to wrapping up, and the Norse decide it's time to go. NG's win the round, but technically not the match as I didn't get the most Wyrdstone off the board. Game 2: Treasure Hunt We got 7 pieces of treasure to hunt for and I end up going last this time. Still have the same basic set-up though. Norse to the left, Sisters to the right. The Norse are really pissed and really hate my Shaman, so they are coming hard. The Sisters get to deal with a group of Skeletons that have arrived in their deployment. Then of course - fate intervenes and a Thunderclap happens. Basically, we randomize all the models and get 6 (2 of the Norse, 2 of NG's, and 2 Sisters) to feel the effects. Basically, each model get's auto knocked down and if they're in HtH, those models are knocked down as well. This is also after the pretty lights appear and each model that can see them has to take a Ld test or can't do anything this turn. NG's were about to get a clock cleaning, but the shark got KD and a lowly snotling rolled to hit, a 6 to wound (which was needed), and a 5 for the KO! The Norse can't seem to get their footing, so they decide to retreat. The sisters try to regroup and come after a few more shards en mass. That is until the Shaman again throws buggers at their Capt and takes her out. Really good games tonight and good time by all. Enjoy!

Complete Mordheim newby here, but isn't that a bit light for terrain on the board? I was under the impression the non-terrain areas should be very small, like 5" in diameter or less. Are Empire in Flames wilderness maps (Assuming that you're doing EiF from the outdoorsy terrain ) supposed to be more open?

Imagine the feeling when you position your tanks, engines idling, landing gear deployed for a low profile, with firing solutions along a key bottleneck. Then some fether lands a dreadnought behind them in a giant heat shielded coke can.

Nah, we usually go with a theme and use what terrain is available.
We've got a 5 level tower/building we use too, but didn't have access to it this time.
Monster hunts on the 5th floor of the tower while fighting all the way up the stairs is good for some laughs as well!

Well, not much to write home about this week. Only got one game in, and the NG's got toasted. The Big boss got an eye poked out, the Shaman got a nasty scar (but causes FEAR now), 1 boss got an eye poked, 1 got -1 Int (like it needed to get worse . . . ) and the other got beat to crap in a pit fight.
I suffered 3 rounds of Animosity for the first 3 rounds of the game. That's 3 turns of not doing a dang thing - except the snotlings who did beat up a nun on their way to grab some weird stone.
Must have been too sunny outside.
