I have just started High elves and I was wandering how this would look:

Archmage w/ Lvl 4, staff of saphery, ring of fury, guardian phoenix - 355 (lore of life)

Heroes

Noble w/ BSB, Banner of the world dragon, dragon armour, halberd, shield - 172 ( with dragon princes)

Noble w/ foe bane, armour of caledor, barded elven steed, additional hand weapon - 157 ( with sword masters)

mage w/ lvl 2, silver wand, ruby ring of ruin - 170 ( lore of shadow)

Core

20 Spearmen w/ full command - 205

what'd you think? first HE list ever made, I don't think it's too bad myself but what would YOU do with this?

I would:

Change the noble to a BSB with the Banner of Sorcery.

Swap the Dragon princes out for white lions.

Also, 2 Eagles. for redirecting and whatnot.

9 Dragon princes is a bad number. 5 or 6 is fine with just a musician, or 10 with full command.

Give the banner of Sorcery to the swordmasters(not the bsb, you want magic armor and a ward save for him).

Also, 43 sea guard is a huge point sink into a mediocre unit. More than 25% of your army lies in one unit that something like Dwellers will eat whole.

2 units of 25 spearmen would work better, or a unit of 30 spears and some archers. Sea guard are over priced.

Eagles are always a good thing.

IMHO drop the archers, i cant stand them and they rarely ever do any serious damage, you’d get more use out of a BSB with Banner of the world dragon on him! then throw him in the sword masters and boom only CC can touch them. And i agree with thedarkavenger, add another eagle and maybe boost the ranks of the swordmasters. But play test it and see what you think, you never know, your area that you’re in, this might be effective.

Silver helms are not worth taking since they eat up special points and DPs are only a few points more.

Things to never take for HE: Silver helms, shadow warriors.
Things to rarely take: Sea Guard, Bolters

Everything else has it's place, but I agree that 20 archers is too much as they don't perform nearly as well as DE crossbows.
2 units of 25 spears and 10 archers should fill your 25% core easily.

And I maintain that magic banners on BSB's are no bueno as you need them to live more than you need them to wave a magic flag around.

The magic banner on the bsb has its uses, but it can be a waste at times. Conversely, it can also be useful at times. I.E. Dragon banner in the new ogres book on a bsb, whilst you give the unit the standard of discipline...Personally, it always depends on both the unit and list/game.

There's little way I can bump my sword masters, I did get a noble to run with the dragon princes. I don't know if I calculated it right though :/

Now thats a solid list. Id play that any day, but everyone has there own play style, for me alot of people that are here are still learning the game as for me whos been palying for 7 years. Hope you enjoy the list.

I'm thinking of dropping one eagle and putting the banner of sorcery in with my dragon princes, yes or no?
