GAAARRRGH the frustration! please help am near the breakig point.I use GW glue, don't know why but going to change soon. Anyway, I need help from you guys as I can't find an answer on the web at all although I am wondering wether the problem is heat. I can only store my models near heat sources e.g. near boilers, radiators etc as thats where my shelves are .

When I pick up a model, most just snap apart. GOD DAMMIT it's so annoying and the glue sort of looks bubbly and dry. Could this be due to the heat? Please does anyone know? Need to move my shelves or create a proper paint station to store my models if it is the heat.

Thanks for any help

Maybe You need to change Your glue.

I'd probably suggest its moving the model and letting it sit near the heat too soon after gluing the model.

If you are using plastic glue it does take a short period of time for it to cure, so I would suggest trying to keep it in a cool dry place until it is dry and see if there is a difference.

If there is no difference then I would suggest replacing your glue.

I'm gonna go with "GW glue isn't very good". I used it, and had the same problem until I changed my glue.

Thanks guys, yes I will definitely be changing my glue very very soon.
When i glue my models I keep them in a cool area for a while before storing them upstairs so I don't think its that.

Thanks again, so it seems to be GW's overpriced glue.

Since you're from the UK Wilkinsons does a cheap super glue (I think I pay like 1.50 for two tubes) that has held my models fairly well despite occasionally knocking them off my desk with an elbow.

I havent used GW super glue in years but when I did it seemed fairly weak and watery.

Ta la, will have to grab some from there, need it for basing soon as well. Gunna try and get the plastic glue that the beasts of war use, can't remember the name, it's blue with a yellow top and a long metal tube, heard nothing but good things about it so will try that glue and see how it goes.

The glue is made by revell that your talking about.. Its nearly impossible to find it over here in the states, but we have other alternatives to it.

Revell. It's fantastic and available in most model shops. I've ended up with two after getting a Revell Maclaren F1 car, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button duel kit.

It's also half the price of the GW plastic glue and you get more. Win win.

Try "zap a gap" that stuff is like i dont know but it is pretty much unbeatable in the strength department and you can get different viscosity's if you like.

When putting together plastic models, I prefer the plastiweld from plastistruct. Its a great bond, but there is a learning curve to using it, and you can ruin detail if you put to much and it gets under your finger. Just have to go slow and use a little.

"Ta la"? Does this mean you're from Liverpool or somewhere similar?

As for the Revell glue, most model stores will stock it, I get mine from my local model plane shop, along with Model Colour paints.

You would be correct

Now gunna have to buy super glue very soon, it wasn't even a few months old and the GW super glue has gone all gloopy and crap.
Woohoo found a model shop in the city centre tomorrow so going to pop in and grab some glue and wilkinsons for some of that super glue, just before picking up the new white dwarf

Edit: just found some cheap PVA glue from Wilkinsons so may buy that aswell, is it still good to use any PVA for basing?

PVA is fine for basing, but if I want the basing to last a while, then I use GOOP or epoxy.

Just got me supplies, wilkinsons super glue is awesome, should have got more
Love the revell glue, just how it works and the fact that it is bonding quite quickly over the crusty dried glue. Does anyone know how to remove the dried glue? Don't mind just going over it but would be awesome if there was a way to get it off.
Next step is to start on my snow bases with the big a** bottle of PVA glue.
