Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

So, I'm sitting outside, thinking. I've decided upon Beastmen as my next army, but as I'm not in much of a hurry to get it done, I figured I could do a themed army.

In the Beastmen fluff, it's not stated why goats are the animal they're half made up of. So... They could have more, and different, animal parts, can they not?

So I figured that I could do Beastmen... With the lower body of spiders. My friend will give me a spider rider to test the conversion with.
The reason I'm posting this is that I wanted to ask you a thing or two.
First, do you think it will be worth it? Will it look good, do you think?
Second, would you play against it? Like, giant spider with pointy stuff on as razorbacks and so on... It's not too much of a stretch, is it?
Thirdly, doed this violate any fluff or so? I'm not too ace on Beastmen fluff yet.
And fourth, would you say it's an awesome idea, a cool idea, a generic idea or a stupid idea?

Sure, as long as everything is clearly what they're intended to be I see no problem with a spider themed beastman list. Fluff wise chaos can do anything it wishes.

Although make sure you're not playing anyone with Arachnophobia

One of the most disturbing pictures in Slave to Darkness, the first Realm of Chaos book, was on the mutations page. Back when the mutations required a d1000 roll.
(Think it was a d1000, might have been d600.. can't remember)

Anyways, it was a freaky yet awesome pic, of a man with a spider upper tordo/head and gnarled spider like right limb.

Of course this was back when one of the mutations was wildly colured skin, like yellow and red, but it has been out there before.

If willing to put the work in, it could be a disturbing and freaky force to play against.

Something like this? But with more of a upper body like so?

I always loved the look of gors. Like -really- wanted entire blocks of these mother fethers.

I've sold so many armies. :(

In the old Beasts of Chaos book it talked about Bug Beastmen, Cat Beastmen, and such. Find that book as it will help you out alot

I did just realize that her lower knee to thigh is attached to the spider half....Well maybe it will help her for striking her prey in the fashion of a scorpion though, she'd be -extremely- top heavy.

Thanks for all the responses everyone! It seems like I'll be doing this then

Yeah, kind of. I'm a little afraid that the whole abdomen will fit on a 25mm square base though... So I'll probly have to just just the insect legs, but I'll see about that when I get to converting! Oh yeah, And I'll make sure to connect them at the waist
Also, I too love the looks of Gors. When I got into WHFB, the things I saw about Beasten was the armybook cover (which isn't too hot IMO) and the Minotaurs. But now that I saw the Gors, I kind of fell in love.

Those are beautiful! Thanks for sharing, will surely come handy as inspiration.

That sounds sweet, thanks! I'll make sure to look into that as soon as I can!

Also... Do you suppose the horns on the Gors would look wierd? And/or the fur? And perhaps I should broaden my horizons a bit a do an Insect-themed Beastmen army instead of just Spiders, hmm.

Its a pretty nice pic other than that, I probably can guess why they have done it that way.. my username is on the right lines, but it doesn't make any sense to have it that way, as you said, she'd be totally over balanced all the time.

Good luck if you go ahead with this CF, remember to share some pics.

Spider Rider spiders are too big to use on 25mm bases. However, if you can find some of these and don't mind how short the Beastmen would be, you could always use those. Good luck finding 100+ metal spider riders though.

Otherwise, if going Spider, you'll need to do a lot of converting.
