Ok so a friend and myself have never done a tournament like this so any advice would be helpful.

Format: 2000 points, One shared force org chart. Each player must field at least one HQ and one troop choice. Special rules and transports do not work cross army (no Genestealers in the Rhino).

Stratagy: our basic thinking My self the Blood Angels will be the troops while Tau is support with tank Popping

HQ
Reclusiarch - Jetpack = 155
Troops
1 Tactical squad- 1 flamer, 1 meltagun =180
1 Tactical squad- 1 flamer, 1 meltagun =180
Death Company – PW, PW, TH =235
1 Death Company Dreadnought- Blood talons, heavy flamer, Drop pod = 170
Total = 920

Tau
HQ
Shas'o- fusion blaster, airbursting fragmentation projector, shield gen, hardwire multi tracker, stimulant injector =142
2x bodyguard- fusion blaster, plasma rifle, shield gen, HWMT=184
Troops
6xFirewarriors: pulse rifles, devil fish w/disruption pods(145)
Heavy
Hammer head-railgun ,burst cannons, disruption pods=155
Hammer head-railgun ,burst cannons, disruption pods=155
2xBroadside team w/team leader- Advanced stabilization system, squad leader w/drone controller, 2x shield drone=200

Total = 981

Total Force = 1901

Im not sure what els we can put in there since i dont know the Tau very well.

Do you know what all the tau player has availible to them? At those points it better to have broadsides. And more long range have hitting suites like death rains or even fireknifes. Ditc the shield Gens for shield/gun drones. Here's a list I put together as a rough idea +++ 1000 (995pts) +++

I'm not a Tau player, but what I know about the codex suggests that your plan is a solid one. However, I don't think you're executing it very well. The Blood Angels component isn't very well focused and it isn't using the best stuff in the book. The Tau piece should be centered around Battlesuits, which can handle the stuff the BA part can't handle well, like CC deathstars.

So, here's a suggestion:

BA:

HQ: Librarian with Jump Pack 125
EL: 2 Sanguinary Priests with Jump Packs and Combi-Meltas 170
TR: 10 Assault Marines with 2 Meltaguns and a Power Fist 235
TR: 10 Assault Marines with 2 Meltaguns and a Power Fist 235
TR: 10 Assault Marines with 2 Meltaguns and a Power Fist 235

Tau:

Minimum squad of Fire Warriors, the rest Battlesuits. Broadsides should be top priority; the rest Crisis Suits with Plasma to handle stuff like TH/SS Terminators.

This army will basically play like a typical DoA style BA army, but with far better fire support from the Tau suits. I think this build really plays to the strengths of both books. Tau's main problems are horrible Troops and lack of CC ability. On the other hand, this style of BA army is great against static shooting armies but struggles against mobile armies and CC deathstars. The Tau handle both those problems by shooting them, and the fire support they provide is much more durable and flexible than what the BA codex can do, without using vehicles which would dilute your target saturation.

If the Tau player doesn't have the suits necessary, let us know, but I doubt it will work nearly as well if you have to use vehicles.

@ MrEconomics: I really like your idea. Do you think it would be a horrible idea to have a hammerhead with an Ion cannon in the army?

If it's the only vehicle, yes. Armies work best when they overload their opponent's ability to deal with the target types they present. That means either taking a lot of something or none.

One Hammerhead will just give the enemy something useful to shoot with Lascannons, etc. If you don't have any vehicles, they have to target stuff like Broadsides, who should have cover and drones to make that a strategy that will take a while to pay off.

Going to back every one up with ditching the generator and taking shield drones. That is about the only change to the Tau list other than maybe dropping the Bodyguards to just Crisis teams and using the extra 20 points for upgrades, like multitrackers on the the Hammerheads.

Go back and edit the broadside team in to the original list so we know it is there, please

The BA seems to be the bad build here. They are not really looking up to keeping the Tau out of CC. Mr Economics suggest list looks like it would reall take the edge off anything trying to get to CC on the Tau.

A Broadside with a Shield Drone is 85, while a Hammerhead with Railgun, 2 Burst Cannons and a D Pod is 165. So it's almost 2 Broadsides per Hammerhead, plus you can take 3 Broadsides per HS slot.
