Subject: "New" new music thread with a little twist...
First of all, I blame Albatross for the creation of this thread. Yes, I typed it,
but a week or so ago Mr. Albatross posted a thread about Soundgarden. I
of course log into I tunes a little later trying to find it for purchase. Alass, it's
an "album only" purchase. Damn! So I drift over to the SG library. I notice at
the bottom the "people who purchased this, also purchased" section. There
was a little group called Kyuss (Kai-us). So for my "new music" offering, I give you:
All I ask is listen to the whole song before you pass judgement. I'd never
heard of the term "stoner metal" before. But I like it!
And the twist is what's something new that you've discovered recently music wise,
that isn't new music, ie. not recently released.

Thye've been going for a while, labouring in obscurity as it where. They've just signed to our label, and I love them, because I love 80's synth-pop. I appreciate that they may not be to everyone's taste.
@alarmingrick - if you like Kyuss you will probably like Queens Of The Stone Age (I don't but my girlfriend does lol), also check out Baroness and YOB (< I like them)
I love Strapping Young Lad and the Devin Townsend Project but I hadn't heard his earlier project Ocean Machine until very recently and it's quite breathtaking. Check it out!
Albatross, those guys remind me a bit of Panic at the Disco.
For your enjoyment, Be Your Own Pet. Unfortunately, Jemina (lead singer) quit the band a few years ago and went solo. Being a singer of a pop/punk band, you can imagine how well that worked for her.
Spoiler:
And the Hush Sound..who are "on a vacation." Anyone with a piano in a rock band is OK in my book.

I'm both selfish and rational. I'm scheming, secretive and manipulative; I use knowledge as a tool for personal gain, and in turn obtaining more knowledge. At best, I am mysterious and stealthy; at worst, I am distrustful and opportunistic.

80's synth pop is awesome.
I knew we could find something to agree on!
We probably agree on many things, but I come off as an abrasive donkey-cave and piss people off instantly.

Another thing we have in common!
Your surname wouldn't happen to be Magee, would it....?
Cheers guys! Thanks for the awesome replies! I literally can't stand listening to the "radio" anymore.
The ratio of 10 minutes worth of song for every 50 minutes of bs means I miss out on alot of new,
and just plain good music.
Love the groups mentioned so far. And seeing as I grew up in the 80s, how could I not love synth pop!
I'm surprised that band isn't more popular Alby? Great song.
@nightside:
Yes! I forgot to mention Kyuss' guitarist is the lead singer/guitarist for Queens of the Stoneage!
Josh Homme played a mean Grunge//Stoner metal guitar.
