Just getting back into Warhammer after a long three year break and decided to start playing my Necrons again. After reading the new codex I came up with a list I wanted to slowly build as the new models come out and this is what I came up with. Any suggestions/improvements please let me know.

HQ: 685 pts
Imotekh the Stormlord
Nemessor Zahndrekh
Vargard Obyron
Royal Court:
Despair + Veil of Darkness
Transmogrification + Harp of Dissonance

Troops: 408 pts
8 Immortals
8 Immortals
8 Immortals

Fast Attack: 305
6 Scarabs
6 Scarabs
5 Tomb Blades + Nebuloscopes

Heavy Support: 350 pts
Doom Scythe
Doom Scythe

Total: 1748 pts

First off, I would ask, what kind of army do you want to run?
for 1750 points, 685 into your HQ's seems really really excessive.

I'd drop obyron since you have no assault units.
The doom scythes are nasty since they can deep strike in, then drop death rays on "castles" or transport lines. They can be an effective alpha strike, however do not expect them to survive after the first shot for the most part.

Crypteks are usually best used as destruct-teks unless you have a specific plan for them. E.G. What is the Transmogrificationtek for? His impact will be...minimal for his points without combining him with Orikan or a C'tan with Writhing worldscape.

Scarabs are excellent
Tomb blades are excellent, i would suggest giving them the upgrade that lets them get 2+ cover saves.

Immotehk is good for his night fighting to help necrons get into assault, however you have a shooting army, you may be best without him.

As a start drop the trans-tek and the despairtek, and swap them for 3 destruct-teks, give one a solar pulse
I'd also drop Immotehk and Obyron
That leaves you with something like 300 points to use to boost your shooting power.

Like I said, I haven't played the game in a long time and I mostly forget how it's played. I want it to be a shooting army but kind of figured that Nemessor Zahndrekh and Vargard Obyron worked really well together so I had them together. So if I take out Obyron and Imotekh what could I add in for extra firepower? Would the Triarch Stalkers be any good at all?

They do work well together, however, for a list like yours without many assault elements, they aren't optimal, their close combat enhancing abilities just are under-utilized.

Triarch Stalkers work best in pairs, they provide pretty reliable anti-armor with their heat rays, or excellent anti-horde with particle shredders.

So, perhaps throw in two stalkers, throw shadow looms on the tomb blades.

Perhaps (and this would be a shift) you can grab two vanilla Overlords for your HQ's with scythes, and throw them onto Catacomb Command Barges, that provides your enemy with 4 deadly vehicles that will make mincemeat of armored forces.

I'm not a huge fan of the Command Barge. I know a few people use it but it really doesn't appeal to me. I'll throw in the two Stalkers though because they look realy good.

Ccb's are arguably the best unit in the codex. Your scythe ignores cover (see the faq) and you can pick off valuable targets like sergeants sweeping by. As well, you can sweep a target and charge a different!

Not trying to shoehorn you into anything, but Zid is right, they are very popular units to take, and usually make back their points and then some.
Still, you may wish to post an updated list to show everyone what your current thoughts on the army you're taking are.

Ok so an updated list I just finished with the advice you guys gave me is:
HQ: 510 pts
Overlord + Warscythe + CCB
Overlord + Warscythe + CCB
Royal Court:
3 Destro Crypteks + 1 Solar Pulse

Troops: 408 pts
8 Immortals
8 Immortals
8 Immortals

Elites: 155 pts
Triacrh Stalker + Particle Shedder

Fast Attack: 325 pts
5 Scarabs
5 Scarabs
5 Tomb Blades + Nebuloscopes + Shadowlooms

Heavy Support: 350
2 Doom Scythes

Total: 1748 pts

I find the large blast on the Stalker more helpful because I could potentially get two squads under the Targetting Relay ability and since most of the people I battle with play horde armies it is kind of a win win for me. After reading over the CCB sweep attack rule I decided to try it out. It says that I can have 3 different sweep attacks while going over people though. Does that mean I can go over the same person 3 times?

Oh and I guess I should mention that 2 squads of Immortals will have tesla while the other squad has gauss.

Yes, you get to choose which model(s) to allocate your attacks to. Could be 3 on one vehicle, or two on the vehicle and one on the powerfist sergeant nearby it, as long as you fly over it, potential target.

Looks pretty good to me!
