Welcome to the Dakka, and the Hobby... Can get pricey...But you got a few stores that has 25% off 40k. look around, or ask the kind gents here if they know of any.

Get the BAsics, Warriors, lord, tomb Spider (but you need the swarm to go with him.) Flayed ones, Distroyers, heavy Distroyers....

Welcome to Dakka! One way yo cut the cost of building an army is to buy used and strip the paint off. Then you have an (almost) good as new model for a fraction of the SMRP. Personally I found patience is the greatest tool when seeking out the best deal.
