... but the door was open.

Um. My name's Chrissy. I've come back to painting miniatures after a break of *counts on fingers* 13 years. Back then I was a fairly competent converter and painter (never a player though!) of Imperial Guard and Necromunda, with a few Warhammer Empire troops thrown in for a change. I loved the potential of GorkaMorka as well and built quite a few vehicles for paying customers.

Anyway, life goes on, work and people got in the way and all my modelling stuff was put away in the spare room... I got into a steady relationship or two, got engaged, had two children, got UN-engaged, went a bit mental, got better and decided to have a huge clearout. Which included all the modelling stuff - paints, brushes, bits, miniatures, books, the whole lot.
At the time it seemed reasonable - I thought, I hadn't touched them for a few years and I'd never use them again.

Well now. Here I am, not working and with loads of spare time, and the paintbrush is calling me... last year I bought a set of Empire Militia and a GW starter paint set and I'm painting 3 figures a month, slow but steady. I can't believe how much the hobby has changed and the sheer choice that's available, I guess the Internet has done a lot of that. Most of all I miss the ability to order bits from GW's back catalogue.

Oh yeah, I'm thirty-something years old and I live in Manchester.

That's me done. Any questions?

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Well, miniatures weren't the only things I got good at modifying and converting...
Oh yeah, I did find one or two bits from the old days - two flat brushes and a pin vice. So it wasn't a total loss.

My little boy does, he's 7½ years old and into painting at the moment... we make boats and cars out of scrap wood and he paints them... I've saved the 'starter' figures (Night Goblins) I got with a paint set and he can start with them.

My daughter is 9 and she doesn't seem bothered; she prefers to run round with a frighteningly realistic toy MP5-K I got from a market...
