Subject: Good spray primers(UK)?

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I'm planning to use zenithal highlighting when I paint my next project and the best non-airbrush technique I've seen involves using spray primers, has anyone found some good quality(ie, they don't sandblast the model) matte black and light grey spray cans that are available in the UK, which don't cost an absolute fortune?
Cheers.

I swear by Plastikote Matt Super. It's not a primer as such, so it goes on very smooth. It's durable too, and has a very fine tooth that takes paint beautifully. I'm not sure whether it's too expensive for what you had in mind at around £7 a tin though. That depends on what you consider an absolute fortune really? You can pick up all sorts of matt sprays on ebay for a couple of quid a tin if you want something really cheap.

That sounds perfect actually, but to clarify do you use the acrylic or enamel ones? Pricewise I was just thinking "cheaper than Chaos Black" :p

Nah, not the enamel. The standard Matt Super... http://www.diy.com/nav/decor/paint/specialist-paints/spray_paints/Plasti-kote-Super-Spray-Matt-Black-400ml-9253990?ecamp=cse_go_9261689&tmcampid=4&tmad=c&CAWELAID=266948658 Edit: I just thought I should add that you're still much better off using an airbrush for the zenithal approach. The diffusion is much finer, and will result in a smoother gradient, and with less splattering too.

To be frank, I can't be arsed with an airbrush; I'm never going to achieve "competition standard" paintjobs, because the painting is less important to me than the sculpting/converting, and airbrushes are so much hassle with the constant cleaning and disassembly then reassembly etc etc. With enough attention I should be able to hit the upper-end of tabletop quality level using the spray cans, so they'll do fine .
I'll grab the plastikote and the halfords blacks for now, though if anyone can suggest a gray that's lighter than the plastikote tone I'd appreciate it.
Oh, and somewhere I can order Testor's Dullcote in the UK would be handy as well.
