In the 40k lore has there ever been a huge necron battle or war fought?

There was that time the imperium fought an entire tomb world... cost em most of a fleet and an entire chapter... Unless Ward erased that... :/
Can't remember the source exactly heh.

These are most of the large-scale canon Necron battles. Nothing approaches Armageddon/Black Crusade level or even Crusade level if that's what you mean

The World Engine event was a big deal.
Now I guess it would be the War against the Old Ones and the Shattering of the C'tan.
Nothing Massive yet, although the Necrons have just woken up.
FW are making an IA book that deals with Necrons, so I guess that'll be their next big conflict.

The harvest of Kau'Mais. Single handedly crippled much of Hive Fleet Gorgon and cost the Tau an entire Sept world. There's also the battle of the Boros Gate, where the Necrons wrecked copious amounts of face despite only having one Tomb ship.

That statement made my night.
Oh, and on-topic, isn't IA12 rumored to be Necrons v. SM? I forsee a big battle on the horizon of the future...

One tombship and it's necrons along with a Spyder bodied Necron Lord vs several billion guardsmen and pdf, 300 white consuls, 7000 word bearer chaos space marines, and a dozen or two chaos titans. The result? Roflstomp in the Necron's favour within mere hours. It only got worse when the Necron lord took back the Nexus arrangement and shut off the warp for PARSECS around.

The domination of the entire galaxy as part of the Necrontyr Empire.
The time they defeated the Old Ones and their armies numbering the entirety of races some, what, sixty million years ago?
Then again in defeating the C'Tan, which cost the Necrons the existences of trillions of their own.
Throughout their history, the Necrons have kicked more ass than the Imperium has ever seen.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

Ward didn't erase it. It's somewhere in the BA codex. Don't know the exact page, but basically, an entire chapter sacrificed themselves to destroy some sort of necron superweapon/planet.

Necrons vs Old Ones & Kids, there's a reason why they call it "The War in Heaven"
Necrons vs C'tan
World Engine vs Elements from fifteen Space Marine chapters and entire sector fleet
Damnos (need I say more?)
Soul Drinkers Book 3 Hell Forged involves a pretty big sector/subsector spanning battle (ah, it's nice to see the AdMech get it handed to them)

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
