Subject: Can Rhinos repair if shaken or stunned.

Thats the question... because it says that it can be attempted instead of shooting... if it can't shoot (becuase of stunned, shaken) it can't attempt it.??.
2nd part of question if you agree... if the storm bolter is blown off, can it attempt repair even though it has nothing to shoot with?

So long as the vehicle does not fire it can repair or pop smoke.

Can you explain why STD... Im getting hung up on the "can be attempted instead of shooting"
Its not able to shoot so technicaly it cant repair..
Is there a FAQ I missed?

As noted, it's done instead of shooting. So you can't do it if Shaken or Stunned. The storm bolter is a good question; strictly speaking I guess it does look like you'd need one by the wording, but I don't see anyone play it that way.

Chaos, on the other hand, finally have a better equivalent rule than their brothers

Exactly so - else units with a type Heavy weapon could never run if they already moved normally.

Indeed, instead of is not must be able. Think about it. If a storm bolter barrel gets melted by a fusion gun and the tracks split by a lance, the track can still be repaired regardless of the storm bolter.

Same. It's the way I've always played it, anyway. Never really thought of the actual wording until seeing this thread.
