Hey Dakka,

When Necrons came out I bought some models and then I sort of stopped playing with them for a while to focus on my Orks. I really liked the Codex entry for Triarch Stalkers but I was not adventurous enough to try to make some kind of passable proxy or model for them, but now that they are out I wanted to make a list that incorporated them. I have not really been following tactics and stuff for Necrons much, so your comments/criticisms/any sort of opinions would really be appreciated. Thanks!

HQ
Necron Overlord w/ Staff of Light
Cryptek w/ Eldritch Lance & Solar Pulse
Crypek w/ Eldritch Lance

Troops
8x Immortals w/ Tesla
6x Immortals w/ Tesla
6x Immortals w/ Tesla

Elites
3x Triarch Stalker

Heavy
3x Annihilation Barge

Total for that is 1240 points, not really what to do with the last 10 or how/if I should change things around.

If you are set on making a stalker list, I would drop one
Use those points to get another lancetek, along with MSS, a scythe, and a CCB for the overlord

lancetek --35
MSS-->15
Scythe-->10
CCB-->80
140
leaves you with ten points left over

The main reason anyone has discerned for the stalkers is to twin link the rest of your army on successful hits, this will benefit your crypteks and immortals, but not your A. Barges, they are already twinlinked
I'd consider finding some room for additional immortals, but if you drop the one stalker,i think you'll be in great shape. At 1250, most armies will lack the tools to deal with 6 AV 13 vehicles.

The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

OK thanks for the input! Would you say that it's worth removing another Annihilation Barge to get some more Immortals?

With that and your reccomendation

Total = 1242
HQ
Necron Overlord w/ Warscythe, CCB, MSS
Cryptek w/ Lance and Solar Pulse
Crypek w/ Lance
Cryptek w/ Lance

Troops
9x Immortals
9x Immortals
8x Immortals

Elites
2x Triarch Stalkers

Heavy
2x Annihilation Barge

So I guess I'd have to decide whether 6 Immortals are worth 1 Annihilation Barge.

Hm, as a fan of footslogging lists, I would say yes, however, at the same time, a list heavy in vehicles, needs to stay that way to be effective.

You're looking at
6 str 5 ap 4 shots / 12 str 5 ap 4 shots
vs
4 str 7 ap - shots
+
2 str 5 ap 3 shots

I'd say at this point, it boils down to personal preference, and making sure if you keep the immortal squads small, that you protect them via cover or something like that.

Well my play style is more vehicle oriented. My Ork lists focus on Battlewagons or Killa Kans/Deff Dreads. I guess it will take some experimenting, now I'm even wondering what a list with 2 Overlords in CCBS would be like and minimizing all the immortals squads to 5 man teams that I can hold in cover.

That would give me 7 AV 13 vehicles at 1250.

Actually no I'd still be down one Annihilation barge. Nevermind

Yeah, I'd just keep the A-barge and call it even then.
With the ten extra points, you might be able to give one of your stalkers a special weapon, like the heavy gauss for extra range or something?

Actually the new list comes to 1247. I like the look of it quite a bit.

Perfect! I'd say, give it a spin, write a little batrep, and see how it does!
