Ok so i want to have both a term squad and a assault term squad in my army, but that cost around $100.00 so what I want to do is pick up 2 AOBR term squads and on one of them hack off an arm and put a TH and SS on them.
what i want to know is this, has any one does this? and if so how does it look and what is some advice for doing it.

I think you may find the cost for buying the bits necesarry for converting them to have the th/ss will come close to buying another box of termies, those parts are quite popular and the bits i've seen are asking a fair amount for them, you may get lucky on ebay and get some cheap if you keep your eyes peeled, as far as the actual conversion being done, i've never seen anyone do it but I would imagine that some fine cutting and sanding and lots of hours could do it.

I did. Here are the parts I used.
1 complete set of AoBR terminators minus the entire arms.
5x TH/ SS Terminator arm bits, which include the weapons, plus 5x SS bits.
5x sets of Terminator Shoulderpads
You exacto knife off the peg for the arms on the AoBR model and glue the new arms on. They look great. However finding the proper bits is next to impossible.
This is how mine ended up looking like:

I had a similar problem. I wanted LC and TH/SS terms but didn't want to pay $100. So I bought some AOBR terms, and an assault term box, spent about $60 total. Made TH/SS terms with the box bodies, then...
I had to cut all the storm bolters and power fists off the AOBR terms. Carefully. Then cut the LC off the arms. You have to do that because the shoulder pads on the AOBR terms are part of the arms, unlike the boxed set. Then just glue the LCs on the arms where the power fists and storm bolters were and you're set. Looks legit because the power cables etc all lined up perfect.
I think with what you're looking to do cutting at the elbow wrather than the wrist is the way to go. I haven't done it but with the experience I have doing the above I think it'd be easily doable.

WOW those look nice, I know I can find the AOBR terms for like 20 bucks on ebay and the conversion kit is sold on the GW site for 8 bucks. I was thinking i could just use the plasic cutter to take most of the arm off them use a dremel and smooth out the arms.

There is no conversion kit on the GW site. Those are TH/SS for power armor guys. Don't make that mistake.

Also bear in mind that you won't get the poseability using AOBR termies that you get with a box of them.
Great idea to save money though!

The assault arm bits are pricey enough that I'm probably better off saving up for the regular box, then divvying up the arms between the included models and my AoBR leftovers, giving me a squad of ten with a mix of weapons.

There's a tutorial on Dakka on how to convert the AOBR termies so you can re-position them at the waist( its quite genius really and easy). Arms should be pretty easy to convert as well with a little wire and some green stuff. Also what about 3rd party bitz? I recently got the Maxmini Mechanical Hammers and I have to say they are amazing bitz. The quality is breathtaking and they are exact scale with Thunderhammers. With a little drilling and glue they should work perfectly with the gun arms. You get 10 to a pack for about 8 bucks from the warstore. They also have Mechanical Shields for about the same price/quantity. Or you can fashion your own storm shields from cardstock or plasticard. They would probably look fine mounted onto outside of the powerfist. The Scibor shields are nice too but they come in odd packs of eitehr 3 or 6 for the same price. There are alot of variety to them though.
Sooo for the same $100 (using the warstore as the shop) you could get 3 AOBR Terminator squads, 10 Mechanical hammers and Shields and you with alittle work you could have 2 Assault Squads with Hammers and a regular squad or a massive 10 man assault squad, or whatever combination floats your boat.
You could probably do it cheaper from other sites but I was just using this one as the example. Actually looking on ebay I see the Spikey bits store has the AOBR termies on sale for $14.99 for the squad.
Hope this helps alittle.

What you can do is buy those Thunderhammers, then make your own cheap storm shields, as heavybolter and I demonstrated in this other thread:
