Do you thjink theres enough AT, because well the highest AV I'm going against is a Predator, I still don't know if I can handle it. I will be fighting all Marines, so thats why theres so much plasma. Only restrictions are: No LRCs or LRRs, due to an update the Thunderfire is also out since I'm not IW. Other than that everything goes

It's an all marine tournament, and you can't use Land Raider Good and Decent? Only Land Raider Meh?
Chronus isn't worth it on almost anything, especially not on a barrage weapon where half the things you shoot at, your BS might not matter.
If you are going to take a Techmarine, either make it a Thunderfire cannon or Master of the Forge.
Chapter Masters are cool and all, but, unless it's all vanilla marines, you might want a Librarian to hood all the scary things that BAs, SWs, and GKs can throw around psychically. Denying a Mephiston his wings is always good.
1 Squad with a Drop Pod, especially at 2000pts, is going to get ripped a new arsehole, especially if that Melta shot misses. I would suggest just not taking any Vanguard veterans, and spend the 325pts on Typhoons or Attack Bikes. You can get almost 8 more missile launcher shots for the same price, or 5 Attack Bikes with Multi Meltas.
Extra Armor is a waste of points on a whirlwind, who'll either be hiding behind buildings and bombarding, or dead. If it can't shoot anyways due to a shaken/stunned...
And why Venerable Dreadnoughts? Vanilla Dreads are cheaper and get the job done just the same, especially when one of your weapons is a blast weapon.
Drop the Plasma Pistol on the SGTs and upgrade to Powerfists, if you need a close combat weapon on them. I prefer running them plain, but, to each his own.

Agree with above. Also, Chronus is almost completely useless on a Whirlwind. The barrage type of the Whirlwind's weapons means that the upgraded BS of Chronus has no effect. With only 11AV on the front, there are enough weapon types that can penetrate that, if the Whirlwind comes under fire, it'll probably get hit by a damage roll worse than a shaken/stunned result. It won't stand a chance against a drop podded dreadnaught armed with melta
Also, I think you have another issue. Your highest strength shooter is 8 (krak missiles and the meltaguns). And you only have 1 melta that can be fired more than once. To me, that's not enough AT in a tourney that will be highly mechanized (I've not seen many lists of any marine type that aren't) Plasma is great against foot-slogging marines, and decent against light vehicles, but it can't be depended. Say your tac squads stay in their Rhinos for three turns before bailing or dismounting. 4 of your 6 strongest guns are not shootable for three turns. My suggestion is replacing your Whirlwinds with 2 AC/LC sponson Predators. Better armor = better staying power, no minimum range, and much better accuracy which is good against an MEQ army that will have smaller numbers than a horde army. The str 9 lascannons will also be useful for trying to punch through heavy armor from range, giving the meltas a chance to get close.

Okay so if I drop out the vets, their pod, and the whirlwinds, then take Ven Dreads down to normal ones, I will have about 630 points to play with. By upgrading the Techmarine to a Master of the Forge I will lower that by 25, so 605. 2 AC/LC Preds w/ extra armor is another 270 so that takes it down to 335. Add a 4 LC Devastator Squad for another 230. Give them a razorback with a twin-linked lascannon for another 75, squad toal, 305. 30 points to work with. Drop Power Weapons from the Sergeants and make them PF, that will take care of the last 30 points. How do you like it?

If your going to bring a tech-marine, why not find a way to spring for the 25 points to add a thunderfire cannon?

While with the changes I put its a MOTF, not a techmarine, and I have to ask the group if Thunderfires are okay, its a pre-heresy thing so I need to keep it fluffy

You still need to fill the HQ slot if you do take a Thunder-fire Cannon, right?
You new list looks good if you ask me. I like bikes so I would take a squad with an mult-melta bike. But that is just me, you Drop Pod Dreads will be just fine.
Good Luck

Ok, from my understanding the list now looks like this, right? I like it much better. You have a strong firebase from the Dev squad, Preds, and Dreadnaughts to advance under (to me your "stay at home" unit is the Dreds. The Devs and Preds can be used to contest objectives or reinforce a weak spot in the lines). The MOTF is useful for repairing damage to your fire base.
I'm a fan of Thunderfire Cannons and think that they are underrated on Dakka. If they're allowed, I can't say don't take it. However, I will point out something to consider. If you take the Thunderfire, you do get a "free" techmarine with servoharness, but that marine does not become an IC until the cannon gets destroyed, meaning that it's not available to repair your vehicles. On one hand, 4 heavy blasts with variable ammo types can hit hard and be very useful, especially the sub-terrain ammo against a BA army full of jump packs and thunderhawk gunships. On the other hand, I find myself drooling over the conversion beamer. It really seems like a preference choice, and both seem to fit with this list. Good luck in the tourney!

Okay so I updated the OP with my New and Improved list, but now I come across the problem of where to put the Chapter Master. Because as is, he's a kill point waiting to be taken. Should I put him with the Devastators to soak up wounds and add a little punch with the orbital bombardment/make them scarier in CC?
