Probably nothing but on the top picture on page 83 White dwarf 389 there are a load of Necron warriors with different guas flayers. Am i overreacting or could there be new models for them soon?

You have a picture?

It is unlikely that they are going to redo them, but it would be nice to give an example of what you're talking about.

Nice spot, however I reckon they have just been converted from the immortals gauss blasters and placing those rods into the warriors guns.

edit: For people who dont own the WD, the tubes are basically the ones from the immortals. Hmmm could be new.

Not all of us have a copy of WD mate. Telling us to turn to page 83 doesn't help much.
Especially if its on a news and rumors thread.

It is just an exchange of the green rod with the one found in the immortals (or tomb blades) kit. No new Necron Warriors, and rightly so.

BTW White Dwarf numbers differ from country to country, just saying. WD May 2012 would have been more precise.

Those actually do look much better. I always thought the green rods were kind of gimmicky, and reminded me of Lego pieces or something. I think the rods combined with the hunched stances don't do the Warriors any favors, but are overall they have great design. I saw some reposed Necron warriors years back that looked infinitely cooler by just standing upright and being a good head taller than the hunched ones.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Necrons are a fun army but can be difficult to convert. I am hoping they will keep the old warriors.

Surely some independent model company will produce a set of textured resin rods that can take the place of the green ones to do just this? I mean, how hard would it be?

Just google search "upright necron warriors", they're head and shoulders taller than marines! (and look significantly more menacing than the "squatting" ones)

It's the same swap I've been doing, you just replace the barrel with the gauss flayer ones from Ghost Arks, it's easy to do and looks good.

At this point, isn't this discussion worthy of 40k, not N&R?

Of course the MODs move it while I'm typing

I like the look of the new rods over the glowing green things a LOT better.

Woh, the Upright Necron is down right bad Ass. If I ever build a Necron army i am so doing that.

I made a squad of upright Necron warriors a few months back. They looked good, but they were a very tedious and difficult conversion to do. I actually traded off my necron army because I didn't have the heart to convert more warriors into upright ones. I still have the squad though, it was the only thing I kept from the army.

How did you do it? seems to be the legs would need cut at the hip, knee and ankle. I could see where it would get time consuming.

I like this conversion - the old green clear rods now look rather quaint compared with the new style models. And it's presumably not too expensive, as the replacement barrels are 'leftovers' when modellers use the other weapon choice.

How many times does GW/WD do stuff like that for display pictures? I wouldn't doubt that in the future we'll see something along the lines of replacing those green rods, only a few necron models still use them

For every squad of Immortals you take armed with Tesla weapons that's enough rods for a 10 'bot squad of Warriors.

I don't mind the rods but i would love some legs that actually fit onto the provided bases!

I'm in the minority I guess. I like the clear green rods the Warriors have for their Flayers and their hunched over pose. I've painted my Warrior's Gauss Flayers a Tin Bitz base and dry brushed with Dwarven Bronze and Shining Gold and this makes the green rods really pop. I've also drilled out the muzzle of their weapons so you can see the green glow of the rod.

The green rods not bad... I like them on the warriors, I wish they didn't go so much towards tomb kings though, But more toward Terminators SkyNet fights back lol Could've had alot of nice models there!! they just need the licence :(

If I ever play Necrons I'm definitely going to switch out the rods for those. That looks much much cooler.
