Great question.

Once i broke into the communities i found myself pretty well informed. If i was to nit-pick:
- I would have wanted Corvus Belli to provide a miniatures catalogue. The vast array of models was confusing before i had learned a bit more from the rulebooks.
- I would also have quite liked to have found thriving DIY fluff and conversion communities.

Neither of those are things i could have been 'told.' I guess that means i was very well informed by everyone, i'm interested to see what other have to reply to this though.

This is so necessary to avoid some rambo tactics.

The people who got me into infinity were WM/H players (where conversions are frowned upon), so this explains why none of them converted any of their infinity stuff.

Me, I've been playing SF minis since Laserburn and Combat 3000 and converting and altering minis is second nature to me (especially in a skirmish game where I'm not using cloned troops).

What do I wish someone had told me?
Look out for the total uncreative crowd who will poo-poo any conversions you might do - because they seem to regard the minis as some kind of sacrosanct item and converting them is akin to defiling them and will have you labelled "iconoclast".

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I really can't think of anything other than warn me about addicted I'd become to it.

I just wished I had learned about Infinity before spending thousands of dollars on 40k in the last year haha
I guess I wouldn't have fallen on Infinity had I not become so addicted to 40k =P

I wish someone would have warned me I would be neck deep in the game lol. All in good humor though, I love supporting the game.

The people I learned with were great so ai can't reallt think of anything.

There are several things I eventually figured out on my own, but:

- It's usually best to keep your back to the wall with the 180-degree vision facing.
- Mines are great when used offensively with used to explode enemies around corners.
- Remotes are doo-doo at dodging, so ensure that they can always shoot back at whatever at a decent modifier.
- AP weapons are oftentimes not really that useful
- You MUST be in base-to-base contact with cover.

Also, the most important thing of all:

- Both short orders and all AROs happen SIMULTANEOUSLY in the game's chronology.

It would've been great to hear "You know, there isn't an Infinity crowd around you, so you'll be stuck with the totally awesome minis and rules for some months before getting to play!"
Not that anyone would have been able to tell me, but that would have been a good piece of information to me.

I suppose WYSIWYG is a religion for some. And in a tourney environment, I can sort of understand.

Back OT:
-I wish someone had told me how fiddly the miniatures assembly could get. Don't get me wrong, I love the level of detail on the figs, but dang, they can be a pain to assemble. Almost drilled a hole into my thumb with a pin vise while pinning my Ragik's drop-pack wings.

It looks like they have started taking it into account. I know they new versions of the Hsien were much better and by the look of the Hellcat, again they made things a bit easier.
