GW sent WI a letter telling them to refrain from publishing anymore articles on the game system, and WI have little choice in the matter.

Its scary that not only do GW not want to support their own systems, they dont want anyone else to do so either... God forbid someone should promote their games. You'd have thought they would have loved the free advertising!

But just goes to show how little GW think of their customers.

WI have sent their apologies as they had planned to publish the US Airborne list but sadly thats not gonna happen anymore. At least WI have shown they are willing to be independant and feature other games even though the magazine is owned by Battlefront. I hope they continue to prosper and FOW adds a few more nails to GW's coffin.

Sad news indeed. Kudos to the original poster for his fine Union Jack Jackson avatar BTW

Very disappointing, although I can't say I'm surprised. It's really too bad, Battlefront seems to have a pretty nice magazine going, and GW is really only hurting themselves by making sure KGN doesn't get any coverage.

Ouch!

I may think that 15mm WW2 is a front for devil worship, but they bring alot of new blood into historical gaming so I do hope they steal some of GWs crowd.

Its a shame really... KGN is a great set of rules and WI were all behind running a couple more articles. Dont blame them for not wanting to go up against GW, especially when its over GWs own game!

Still, things happen and who knows whats around the corner.............................

Ha! Piers, it's certainly not an insult, just a surprise!

Although we did have a slight problem where the apartment's shower water ran red like blood for a few minutes, but that passed pretty quickly.

Showers of blood?

You need a Plumber-Exorcist for that...

I cant slag off FOW, never played it, and Im sure if I was starting now and moving from 40k, I would go for for FOW too.

I do wish it was more a WW2 game than a game using WW2 miniatures but hey, it makes people learn some history so it aint all bad.

Plus people should always play what they like... Cant stand that old grumpy historical gamer that thinks anything written after 1976 is crap...

Kampfgruppe Normandy, a 20mm WWII company level(ish) game. http://www.warhammer-historical.com/acatalog/Kampfgruppe_Normandy.html.

The rules look pretty decent but I havn't found anyone who actually plays it though.

*Chokes on tea* What?

As I am always banging on about on the KGN forum in the OP you can make KGN (meant for 20mm) work in 15mm. I use individual models but squads mounted on one base could be applicable. And the size difference between 15mm and 20mm just means encounters seem to be at longer ranges. I have a Panzer Lehr army of many points and use 20mm Airfix infantry (or Revell or someone, I have randomly picked up boxes of 1/72 since I was about 10) for British and Americans, with their tanks. Just waiting for PSC to do 15mm Brit or American infantry now...

Also, Piers, I came to KGN from Warhammer only a few months ago after seeing some of your AARs on this very site. From this I have been able to peer down into the world of historical wargaming, take a look around and make my choice. As chance would have it I am going to be ordering Force-on-Force rules and a certain Ambush Valley supplement along with, eventually, some 20mm Marines and VC from SHQ and Britannia.

It is a pity about KGN and the way GW is treating it but even if nothing else is released for the Kampfgruppe franchise I will still enjoy playing the original. And, as an optimist, I am hopeful that this won't end possible future supplements

I don't play as much as I could. I blame society! And ninjas

Wehrkind: "Nah, see he yells the order, and when everyone looks at him and say "What?" he grabs the vox, hits a guy with it and screams "CAN YOU HEAR MY NOW?!" into the mouth piece. Works like a charm "

Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms.

I've been thinking about this, and although I'm guessing WI is going to refrain from publishing any more KGN material because it's simply not worth the trouble arguing with GW, I wonder if GW actually has any legal ability to demand that a publisher of a periodical refrain from including articles that feature GW games. That is, I wonder if laws governing freedom of the press would protect WI if they chose to continue publishing articles that featured KGN. GW would certainly not be allowed to tell a newspaper that it couldn't have photos or articles covering their games, so I wonder if push came to shove, if they could really stop WI from writing about KGN as well.

I've got enough to paint, including 2 28mm dark ages armies for that very reason

Y'know knocking up a mod for KGN that allowed for FoW's team style infantry basing and 15mm models could kill two birds with one stone.

Would it really be that hard? 15mm and 20mm aren't that far off, so distance probably wouldn't have to play. Vehicles replace vehicles on a 1 for one basis, and a base of infantry for FoW replaces a (or maybe 2) minis in regular KGN.

I'd be willing to try if WH Historical every has another 50% sale.

It took me a minute to realize you were not advocating getting a forum moderator pregnant.

Although with the price direction GW is heading, selling children may become the only viable way to pay for the hobby.

Damn right. I've just started and completed a 15mm Spanish Civil War army. It came to over £30!

Next up, an English Civil War army.
