I've been recently using the Army Painter 'dipping' method and everything has been going great until recently on a couple of models when i was shaking the excess off the model flew off the pliers and a chunk of the side of the rim of the base came off as well. I really don't want to have to replace the base. Is there anything I can do? (and yes I've learned my lesson to use rubber gloves while dipping models instead of pliers).

Thanks in advance,

When you flock / base the base, it should cover up any minor defects. Or are we talking big chunk?

If you're talking big chunk, just remove the base and replace it.

Yeah its a big chunk on the rim of the base :(.
Ah well now I'll learn my lesson. What would you do if the models were slot bases? (to remove it from the base)

Depending on the glue, you can generally just pull. You might need to slide a knife down the slot to cut away some of the glue.

if your base is ruined, you can pretty much destroy it with pliers to get your model free right?
if you wanna repair your base, you can maybe use some plasticard or greenstuff... but how did you manage to break it? or did you squeeze it to bits with your pliers?

At least when you were shaking yours it didn't bounce and fall out of your 6th floor apartment like it did for me :( There has to be some very confused Chinese person who got hit by a flying, gooey army man. If using plyers make sure to not grip it too hard and grip it by the flat edge, not on the corner of the base.

Yeah, for damage like that I'd fill the damaged area with green stuff, and then sand the outside of it to match the curve of the base edge. I've had to do that with 40mm and 60mm bases a few times, since I never have enough of them.

The supply does not get to make the demands.
