This is a confusing one for me that came up today, do you get look out sir versus curse of years? and if so, why? I thought it no but could not find justification for this when I tried, so I let my opponent look out sir. In a similar vein, if the answer is yes then is this also the case for other spells which specifically hit all models in the unit (e.g. dwellers), or magical vortices (purple sun etc..)? again I thought this was a no to look out sir, but could not, on the fly, mid game, find a rule in the BRB to justify myself. in the end it didn't make a difference as I tabled the guy but it'd be nice to know in future.

Thanks.

The spell doesn't specifically allow one, and it is not a template, so no you do not get a LoS!

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.

Every single model is hit, it's not a template. You don't get a look out sir.

Purple sun is a template, you get a look out sir.

Dwellers targets every single model and is not a template, you don't get a look out sir.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

No game of chess can be won without pawns, and this may prove to be a very long game.

The deal with getting a look out sir against spells such as dwellers, which does actually target every model in the unit which would not allow a look out sir, is that most (at least 90% that I have been to) allow a look out sir against certain spells such as dwellers specifically mentioned. This is to prevent those uber spells from wiping out any and all characters in the unit without a save. Curse of Years does allow a ward save and cannot instant kill a character and so does not fall under the letter or intent of those special tournament rules.

This is not for tournament play so getting look out sir vs dwellers does not happen, which is good to know, but can anyone provide a section of rules regarding this so I can quote rule book and page numbers next time this comes up?

Thanks

Look out sir, and note it talks about Templates. Curse of YEars / Dwellers are not templates, are they?
