okay its been awhile since i have been on. i have never used these forums so im not too sure where to ask these. okay im brand new to fantasy, yet to play a game, i chose warriors of chaos to be my army, cause i like the possiblity of a 3+. i was going to get a battalion box, but i decided just to pick up what comes in the box at my flgs, i got everything except the warhounds, that and i had 5 kights i got awhile ago for bitz, wich im trying to reassemble. i am completly new, im now at my desk assebling every body.

now i have a few questions.
1. if i mount a hero on a barded steed, can i stick him with a group of knights.

2. can i give mauraders both flails and sheilds.

3. can i have more than 5 knights in a group i dont have enough bits to make 2 groups.

4. if i give the knights lances are they enscrolled, or are they just normal lances

hey, good questions, i've got answers

1. yes, you can put a mounted hero in a squad of knights

2. i believe flails are 2 handed, and so you cannot give them both, but i would have to ask my brother that, since he's the one who plays chaos

3. yes, you can have as many knights as you wish in a squad

4. you would have normal lances, you get a strength bonus if you charge with them anyways, so having the upped strength of ensorcelled weapons would just be too strong

hope this helps good gaming

1st. They're not two handed.
2nd. Even if they where he could still buy the shields but wouldn't be able to use them in close combat.

well from the answers i got, im going to give my mauraders both flais and sheilds so i can get a better save against ranged attacks, until i have a better stock of fantasy minis im stuck with what i got.

The rule book states flairs are 2 handed give +2 strength for the first attack only.

The advantage over great weapons are they don't have the always strikes last rule.

While keeping your initiative is nice the fact you go S3 for the rest of that fight is waaaay bad IMO.

Flail units are for breaking an enemy in the first round. Pump out lots of attacks at high strength and cause massive casualties. So yeah, if your enemy holds after that first round you are going to be hurting.

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.

In my experience i never brake against such units.
In fact a marauder horde with flails is a great thing to face for me since i only have to take S5 for one round.

Don't give your Knights lances. They suck.

its better to have +1Str and magic attacks all the time then +2str only on the charge. for additional points no less.

Or do what I did and use them as Halberds for your Chosen.

okay, out of curiosity, im having trouble getting two ranks of knights to have thier bases mate in two rows, is it okay just to have a single line

Tactically its a bad idea. You are too wide and difficult to move about.

You really just need to glue them on their bases in a way where they line up.

It can take me a few minutes to figure out the right order and don't even get me started on my Chosen(I have them numbered and lettered by row and that takes a while to get sorted)

Or just have the second rank straggle a bit back for functionality.

Or that, you really only need to be formed up when in combat and only really on the side that's engaged.
