Introduction / Inspiration:
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Alright guys, I am a grey knight player who has been playing for a while. I have thought on how "cheese" is so forwned upon by most because of the redundency effect of mass-producing elements. For this reason I have decided to play outside of my sphere of normal play entirely. Enclosed is some thing at least partially inspired by the game portal, hope you enjoy (will describe each portion of the list, then give a concise list.)

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Elements
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
First, as HQ choices, there are two Ordo Xenos inquisitors with conversion beamers (trust me, this will be explained later) coupled with two psyker mastery level 1's with psychic communion and 5 servo skulls between the two.

Next, we have five 10 man strike squads, who depending on the mission and deployment type will have variable deep striking amounts. They have two psycannons each for versatility reason and for some anti-armor punch along with psybolt ammunition for reliable anti horde and anti-transport.

Going along to the heavy support choices, we have 2 dreadknights kitted out with personal teleporters (which make them jump infantry making them capable of deep strike) and heavy incinerators. This will be useful as a strong presence coming down with the strike squads.

Finally, we come to the interesting concept in this army. There is also in the heavy support role an extremely under-represented group, the purgation members. They will be kitted out with standard equipment (not a single psycannon here) you ask, wtf! why not!? well, I got to thinking... and that astral aim ability is such a useful tool to have and since there is such an extreme range on those conversion beamers I decided to make a completely "hidden" list by securing a location to ensure the beamers are completely safe from fire while having the ability to lay waste to opposing heavy armor.

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Overall Strategy
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

The focus of this null deploy list is to dangle a nice 318 pt bait before the enemy, and using the heavy deep strike element of the list to hit the enemy with a pseudo-forced alpha strike. Now, I decided against giving the purgation squad weapons because the innate free changes make for poor decisions, yes flamers are strong against hordes, but are lack-luster when forced into melee, this will allow for versatility in their defense of the inquisitors depending on what the enemy decides to throw at them. Please, if you have suggestions I would love to hear it, I plan on testing this list within the week so I will come back and link the battle-report here for you all to read =)

List looks pretty good to me. The only thing I might suggest is hammers on the strikes to prevent walkers from tying you up in combat. You also may want to suggest investing in some ranged anti-tank other than the conversion beamers.

About Astral aim... I'm guessing you would be trying to take out High profile or Armored targets with the conversion beamer. But it auto grants 4+ cover though... Don't know how useful they may be if the thing you would get would get a cover save which they should be making 50% on the time.... kind of unreliable IMO.

I don't know why people complain about GK so much... It's just a game, and nobody complains about Mephiston... So why complain about Draigo?

Took your thoughts into consideration and I agree that the walkers would just curb stomp on the squads, so here is my amended list (note that the first post still holds true for the purposes of each squad, this just addresses a couple of points) Also, the callidus assassin was added upon realizing the juicy dreadknights can deep strike without personal teleporters.

I have played my Dreadknights off and on and honestly.. The idea of the model and looks are great..but those points could be spent well somewhere else but this is only my opinion. Also, if your idea of throwing the Inquisitors with the Purgations for the astral aim works..i would love to see/hear/read your first game with this list..

I will admit, this list performed admirably when I ran it, there was a short-coming on the part of the conversion beams in regards to their reliability, even without the purgation squad, that 42" to 72" bubble was too easily closed by my enemies with the null-deployment strategy, the deep striking element of the list was amazing though, ensured me alpha strike on every game I played. Now, here is a tweaked list to address the issues that I have found within the list. There will be a battle report made within the next couple of days about the alpha list, but I assure you, the Knights put down some heretical guard and stopped a chaos insurrection from becoming a reality =P

Issues:
- useless H.Q.'s after alpha strike
- callidus was nice to try, but ultimately falls short when not fighting elite armies.
- unreliable turn 2 av 14 penetration ( strike psycannons just have to stay stationary to hurt those... a little dangerous!)

Solutions:

- drop the beamers, and the purgation squad... use the pts to make an interceptor squad by converting one of the strike squad groups. This will allow the shunt to be performed and throw the inquisitors from the back up to the front when the alpha strike occurs.

- take out the callidus and put another dreadknight in the list

- take out one of the strike squads and put in a paladin squad with 2 psycannons for rending turn 2 (usually)

Without further adieu, the refined list!
