Hey.

i have tried and tried about 70-80 times to win over Space Wolves and i seriously need help... I manage to stay good on draws with the Space marine player but i want this to end. One of my problems is that i do not have ANY chimeras at all and almost no fast attack choices.

I will list up here what i have of models.

HQ:
3 commands squads (work either as CCS or PCS)
Commissar Yarick
1 Commissar (as either lord commissar or ordinary)
1 techpriest

Elite:
3 Ogryns

Troops:
about 100 models that varies what they are (ratlings, veterans, storm troopers, guardsmen, penal legion)
9 Heavy weapon teams
2 special weapon squads

Fast attack:
1 Bane Wolf (often used as a 3rd basilisk)

Heavy Support:
2 Basilisk
5 Leman Russ tanks

i have played about 40 games vs the Space wolves and not won anyone... those wolf lords are ridiculously strong
against the space marines i think its currently 4 wins, 2 draws and 4 loss

can anyone give me some tips against both Space marines and Space wolves?

we use to play 1500 pts and 1850 pts

he usally uses this:

1-2 Wolf lords (mounted with storm shield, thunder hammer, runic armour and saga of the bear and/or saga of the warrior born on the other)

3-4 grey hunter with one melta and one plasma in rhino with storm bolter and dozer blade

2-3 long fang squads with 2 missile launchers, 2 heavy bolter and 1 leader.

1 land raider (if not using the land raider he uses 2 wolf lords)

and he has a wolf standard somewhere in the list. i don't remember more after the last week brutal beating

We can come up with a million lists with the models you have but the list is useless without the right strategy, what do they normally end up doing that beats you.

Does he hold them in reserve, deep strike, flank, is he overly aggressive?

he is very aggressive with he's wolf lords and he's not using deep strike (at all) and does not put in reserve unless he have to
and he always get the first turn (he's seize initiative dice is scary i tell you)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Usually sends he's wolf lords for my tanks or my HQ :/

Not sure what special weapons and HWS you have.

I would definitly bring the 3 leman russ's and veterans with Meltas and plasmas. The wolf Lords are T5 so having a S10 weapon helps out. If your opponent agrees you can use a Russ model as a demolisher tank then I would bring one as well.

Same thing with the land raider. They are awesome until they get melta'd.

Assign a Model as Marbo, he can come into the game anytime and deploy anywhere and his demo charge or whatever it is is amazing.

When I get off work I'll see if I can come up wih a good list with the models you have.

Convert up a Psyker Battle Squad. Put the whammy on his Wolf Lord deathstar. Drop enough fire into them to lose 1 or 2 models. Laugh as they run away. Bonus points if you can keep a unit within 6" so they keep running.

Leman Russ Demolishers will instant-kill his Wolf Lords. Autocannon teams will disable his light vehicles, letting you proceed to shell the crap out of his exposed Marines.

Ogryns are not very good units, and Commissar Yarrick is prohibitively expensive for what he does. Drop these if you're having trouble winning. You won't beat Space Wolves in close combat; don't waste time trying to equal them. Just shoot them with your hundreds and hundreds of guns.

Holy crap, and I thought I was bringing a ton of tanks to a 1,000pts game...

If you want to get some more use out of your infantry, buy some more commissars. That will let you run power blobs, which are your only really viable alternative for troops if you don't have chimeras.

I'd say buy at least 2 more, and then start converting some of your sgts over to power weapons.

A basic powerblob setup would be this:
Spoiler:

Team list, 925pts

+ HQ + (140pts)

* Company Command Squad: Lascannon

* Company Command Squad: Lascannon

+ Troops + (785pts)

* Infantry Platoon (355pts)
* Infantry Squad: Lascannon, Meltagun, Commissar Power Weapon, Sergeant Power Weapon
* Infantry Squad: Lascannon, Meltagun, Sergeant Power Weapon
* Infantry Squad: Lascannon, Meltagun, Sergeant Power Weapon
* Platoon Command Squad: Autocannon

* Infantry Platoon (430pts) (This platoon can either be two 20 man blobs or one giant 40 man blob)
* Infantry Squad: Autocannon, Grenade Launcher, Sergeant Power Weapon
* Infantry Squad: Autocannon, Grenade Launcher, Commissar Power Weapon, Sergeant Power Weapon
* Infantry Squad: Autocannon, Grenade Launcher, Commissar Power Weapon, Sergeant Power Weapon
* Infantry Squad: Autocannon, Grenade Launcher, Sergeant Power Weapon
* Platoon Command Squad: Autocannon

The key part is to COMBINE the infantry squads into one big combined squad (aka blobs) as that's where their strength lies. I tend to do 20 man groups with the odd 30 man one to hold an important objective, but I've heard good things about 40 man blobs as well. They wont beat SW grey hunter squads in close combat (trust me on this one, I learned it the hard way) but they'll stomp most vanilla marine units through attrition by shooting and close combat. The key thing is you never bring just one blob, always have at least 2, if not 3. They work best with support like HWS's and Leman Russes, two things you have a good amount of. Also remember orders like FRFSRF and Bring it down, as they're always a nice bonus to boost killing power. Just don't rely on them, think of them as a bonus, rather than something to build a list around
