Shrike force is way small and over costed. . 3 Missile equivalent or stronger hits and there gone, so they will probably never make it to assault.
Only chance to get them to range will be to charge in behind the Gargoyle screen.
Not sure I can see this list working real well. If it makes it to assault, it could hurt, but getting there is going to be hard.

I feel the same but i think that the infiltrating stealers can tie up some units early and yeah the garg screen is for the shrikes. I agree they cost to much BUT, I had 15 points left over and i thought for 15 points toxin sacs was the best i could do.

RAN this list with much success. Shrikes stay absolutely.
Against necrons, I got lucky his deathstar mishapped and died. It would have been a near thing.
Against Blood angels things went relatively well, my adversary was skilled. I won and held the game down very well. The shrikes got charged by death company and died. but the deathstar took down the death company death star.
against Grey Knights I ran house. Zoans popped his raider fast. shrikes murdered a palidin/ coteaz deathstar. mopped up.

I like the list - nice to see something 'different'. Only thing you may find is if the Zoeys do not perform well for a few shots, things could be rough. I've found that sometimes they rock, and sometimes they suck... but I love 'em anyhow!

So Stealers are good?
I've been writing a list with a load of Tervigons as I heard they were better than Genestealers in the long run.
So is the point to a Tyranid army to be the endless wave of unrelenting aggression?

yes!
Gene stealers are amazing, long run.
In my mind tervigons are only as strong as the gants they produce.

With just 3 shrikes? Did the GK not get the Nemsis off? While I like Shrikes, how did you get a 3 pack close enough? The bone swords will hurt for sure, I would have expected that alone to earn them an early demise. Details, details how did it go down. I find Zoa's make a great baby sitter for Hive Guard or a nice forward shield for MC's. In both roles the fact that they carry a big, if flacky, gun is just gravy. Automatically Appended Next Post: Puscifer wrote:So Stealers are good?

Nope. 'Stealers are a better CC unit, are better at getting close, easier to have cover for, and tend to scare people more. The big plus for the Trevigon is breeding more objective holders and making termiguants real threats.
Most good nid lists are unrelenting wave after wave of bodies. Give the opponent to many targets and you are likely to get close enough to eat them.

Well here is how it went down. they moved their land raider up. I had used impassable terrain that blocked LOS to make the shrikes really hard to shoot. I left my Zoanthropes in the open as a very tasty thing to shoot at. I also left the tyrant deathstar right behind the zoanthropes. It was a mostly henchman army taking that crazy coteaz/paladin deathstar so most of his shooting was chimeras and meltas. the meltas could not hit me turn one.
my turn:
I move the shrikes up and make a hole in their gargoyle screen. the tyrant advances as far as he can putting him within 12 of the LR. Zoanthropes are bosses and lance the land raider getting a wrecked result. deathstar piles out. Now that the deathstar is exposed I cast paroxsym on them. charge with shrikes. due to WS 1 they hit me on 5's lots of them have hammers.
15 attacks from shrikes leads to 7 successful wounds (poison rerolls are awesome) it is enough to fully wrap. 3 die to instant death cause of double bonesword (3ds leadership, and you add them, not pick the highest). I kill all the ones with swords, but the gargs have yet to go. and let me tell you, when gargs hit on 3's you get a lot of hits. also blinding venom meant lots of saves. one more drops. Also coteaz died to boneswords. 2 shrikes die to hammers doubling them out. it was to late they had already almost tripled their points. they were not fearless, they bugged out considering how many points I won combat it was not unexpected.
I had infiltrated genestealers on his left flank and they walked the rest of the unit (2 paladins) off the board.
From there it was walk the stealers back to the objective and clean house. though, he tank shocked my deathstar with a chimera and just for fun i death or gloried (game was in the bag already) my tyrant got SMUSHED it was hilarious. if you look at the chimera and tyrant model i do not know how it would even run him over.
