Quick query regarding the Land Speeder Storm...

...does it come with a Heavy Bolter fixed weapon or does the Heavy Bolter have to purchased as part of a scout squad?

Hope this doesn't break the not revealing codex content rule, apologies if it does

EDIT - Wrong forum anyway

Rulewise, its just a Heavy Bolter. No hellfire shells.

Two replies, not a single answer to the question. The LSS comes with a HB as part of its cost.

Yes, it comes with a heavy bolter and in addition, the scout squad using it as a transport can have their own heavy bolter (however the storm's one cannot use the squad's special ammo).

Many thanks.

Was putting together a scout squad from my bits box last night and after having hassles with the heavy bolter, I decided to leave it off. As I'll be getting a Storm for them. so they can use that one (with the restrictions noted above)

For clarity's sake I'll re-iterate: The Storm comes with a heavy bolter standard. It does not belong to the scout squad. If you just mean to shoot the storm's heavy bolter at any target at which you would otherwise aim a HB carried by the Scout squad, there are many considerations to take into account:

The LSS and the Scouts are two different units, so you cannot fire them simultaneously, seriously reducing the weight of fire accompanying the HB shot.. This means your opponent can use wound allocation to his advantage when it comes time to place the wounds from each unit.

Although the HB on the LSS can move and fire, giving it much more tactical flexibility, the LSS is far less durable than the Scout squad when moving slow enough to fire it's HB; Your opponent can neutralize the HB easier, and often much sooner, than the one carried by the scout squad.
