scotland

i got in an argument with a friend over this so i thought i would ask here

i will use made up statistics here

he has a model with a 4+ rerollable save.

i have a model with a weapon which makes enemy successful invuls against it be rerolled.

i cause 1 wound

he rolls his 4+ save and passes.

now it gets fun

i say he musr reroll it due to my weapon. but he says that they cancel each toher out since otherwise we would be rolling forever.

there is a rule that says a dice cant be rerolled more hten once. so sohuld he have rerolled and used the new result or was he right to ignore both rules?

They do cancel out and you just roll once.

Technically, what you do is roll the dice, and whatever the result is you reroll it.

Say this situation is what you described. You wound, I have to roll a save.

I have a 4+ save. If I fail it I can reroll. If I pass your rule says I have to reroll it. Therefore, no matter what I roll the first time I will reroll it. So the 2nd roll is what counts(and no reroll is applied)

The end result is I roll once with no rerolls of any kind as both abilities cancel out.
