This battle had my orks pitted against the fearsome(!) tau. Another highly enjoyable low points game.
I decided to write this one from the tau point of view, as opposed to the orkses.
Please let me know your opinions, and enjoy!

"So tell us, Shas'El, how is it that you managed to lose your entire patrol to the barbaric Orks?"

Shas'la Viorla'Montka stood before the council of his elders, on trial for imcompetance and cowardice.
Desperate to save himself from execution, he begun his account of the skirmish.

"We were on patrol, simple recon, when our auto-senses picked up the roar of the primitive beast's vehicles. Two of them were rapidly approaching, supported by a squad of orks utilizing primitive jump packs. With four suits under my command as well as the strike squads of firewarriors, I felt that we could easily disable the Ork's advance. How wrong I was.."

Tau List.

Shas'El w/ Plasma rifle,
-missile pod,
-hard wired multi- tracker,
-hard wired targetting array,
-Shield thing (4++).

x2 Crisis suits,
-missile pods
-plasma rifles
-multi trackers.

x2 Crisis suits,
-missile pods
-plasma rifles
-multi trackers.

x6 firewarriors.

x6 firewarriors.

Orks list:

Warboss w/ P.K, T.L shoota, 'eavy armour and cybork.

x11 slugga boyz, nob w/ B.P, P.K
Trukk w/ R.P.J (Warboss here.)

x12 shoota boyz, nob w/ B.P, P.K
Trukk w/ R.P.J

x5 stormboyz, nob w/ P.K, 'eavy armour.

Tau recieved the first turn, orks failed to sieze the inititive.

Tau Turn One.

The ethereal shuffled the papers in front of him.
"according to these field reports the original volley was highly innefectual. Why was this?"
Viorla winced under his combat helmet. This hearing was not going in his favour.

"A combination of several factors, Aun. The ork vehicles approached at a speed far faster than
I had anticipated, and the setting sun blinded my warriors."
The ethereal leaned forward, his twitching mouth betraying his anger.
"you engaged the orks with the sun against you? You fool."

The tau immobilised the slugga trukk using jump shoot jump with their crisis suits.

Orks turn one.

"The mobile trukk sped forward, gunning two warriors down. The jump pack orks followed, using the vehicle as cover. The other orks disembarked and moved forward."

"It seems to me that the barbarians utilized tactics superior to your own!", one of the council roared. "And they barter using their own teeth!"

The slugga's disembarked and ran forward.
The shoota trukk zoomed up the left, while the stormboyz followed suit. Two firewarriors were killed by shoota fire.

Tau turn 2.

"Using the time honoured tactics of our ancesters, Myself and my two teams jumped forward, ready to gun down the exposed squad and the band's leader. We killed them all to an ork, while the firewarriors poured fire into the trukk hurtling towards them.
Unfortunately the vehicle was moving far too fast, and even when the engine blew, it spun wildly into the squads. It then proceeded to blow up, claiming the lives of four honourable warriors, and more orks. There was nothing I could have done."

"We'll decide that, commander."

The suits all moved forward. The slugga squad and warboss were gunned down, and the shoota trukk kareened in between the two firewarrior squads, claiming two lives from each. 5 shoota boyz died, but the squad passed their morale test.

Orks turn two.

The ethereal cleared his throat.
"Our reports indicate that this was when everything hit the fan.
YOU misjudged the distances orks could cover.
YOU underestimated their jump packs. YOU are responsible for all their deaths.."

The shoota squad WAAAGH'd towards the leader suit and co. The stormboyz flew to one of the firewarrior squads.
The stormboyz lost one ork, then krumped the enemy squad.
The shoota boyz also lost a boy, then the Nob splattered the two suits. The Shas'El was saved by his invulnerable. He fled. The shootas consolidated towards the other suits.

Tau turn three.

"The field was lost!" Viorla roared. "To stay would have been folly."
"So you flee like a coward, as your troops die to protect you? You are scum!"
"What good would have come from me dying too?" he cried.
"Your honour."

Shas'El runs off the board. The stormboyz are saved by cover from the shots of the two remaining firewarriors. The suits kill two shootas, but they pass their morale test again.

Orks turn three.

"Guards, execute this coward! And fire his body into the great void, where his soul shall have no peace."
Honour guard sprang to attention, and escorted away the ex-Commander.
"Through his death may there never be another disaster as this one.

For the Greater Good."

tau vs orks is never a fun match b/c of the styles of army. But nice rep! TA's can't be hardwired though. You should tell your friend to take cheaper suits at low cost games so he can fit in more

I always enjoy BattReps in story-form. And a win for Orks is always a bonus.

Thanks guys, its good to get feedback.

What suits would you recommend for the points level? Deathrains, perhaps?

Good batrep, as far as suits go vs. orks I'd recommend BC/MP.

I would recommend MP-BC the most for the point level. The number of shots is useful against all kinds of armies. Besides that I would say the armies look pretty good, though it looks like you do not have that many orks on the table? my 500 point list for tau is

HQ

Shas-el
Burst Cannon
TL Missile Pod
Multi Tracker

This batrep was a great read. Thanks for adding the story. And When you said: x12 shoota boyz, nob w/ B.P, P.K
Trukk w/ R.P.J Did that mean you had 12 slugga boyz and a nob (making 13 models total) or 11 slugga boyz and a Nob (making 12 models total)?

That would be 11 sluggas and a Nob for 12 total. Glad you enjoyed it.

Darkcloud: Thanks for the list, I'll pass it on next time our ways meet. Also the bodycount in my army is mitigated by the speed and durability (KFF.) It works for me- undefeated for 4 games with it

oh sorry didn't see the KFF. My friend who just started playing uses orks. An since I play tau he and I have 500-1000 point battles from time to time. He really wants to add the KFF, that way I don't just drop half his army turn 1 lol That's what I do not like about ork vs tau games, either I wipe him before his army can do anything, or enough of his army makes it to wipe me. Which only needs to be a couple of boys lol

As I play both armies, it is cool to look at the battle both ways. The Tau are going to have a hard time with the orks, esp in close combat. If they can avoid that or maybe with some kroot and kroot hounds they may have stood a better chance if they had gotten the charge. Tough battle. Best thing for the tau was to avoid them. Cheers and good battle report.

Thanks for the support

I think the reasoning behind no kroot was he just wanted to cram as many suits in as possible. When your up against speed freaks, you can generally forget about getting the charge. Therfore kroot would fold fairly easily.

Ya definitely, that's just my all comers list. But they are good b/c they can outflank then rapid fire the crap outa orks lol They are much better for objective games, but this dosn't look like it was capture and control?

Yup, straight up annihilation. Of course, it makes no difference to me- I just try to table the opponent regardless at that points level.

haha ya that makes sense for this point level. The orks will just die if they waste time sitting on an objective. My friend uses like 2 squads of 20ish boys and they get like 70 attacks in on the charge. Its ridiculous lol

I honestly think for the points and for what they can do, I think Ork Boyz are one of the best troops out there..
They beat the heck out of anything Tau can do for troops, price and what they can do....
Good luck and cheers.
Higher point games with an opponent with lots of mech, it can be difficult to crack tanks for Orks. Lootas and Looted wagons or Big Gunz can do a decent job, but Orks lack super great shooting, I think that the shoota boyz are about the best that we have, the volume makes up for the crap BS.
